Fans of zi char dishes may have heard of Ju Xing Home, said to be the iconic go-to spot of many renowned chefs and celebrities in Hong Kong.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand winner – a humble hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Mong Kok – is always filled to the brim courtesy of chef-owner Ng Kong Kiu’s unpretentious zi char classics. Diners come to savour its Cantonese stir-fries and fiery Sichuan flavours, served with plenty of wok hei. Bookings are practically impossible to get unless you are making it months in advance.
Luckily, those living in Singapore may not have to wait that long, because chef Ng will be setting up his first overseas outlet in Ngee Ann City on Dec 1, 2023.
According to Ng, house signatures – “dishes made with heart” that are “worth the money” – will continue to be served.
Look forward to signature dishes like Boiled Fish with Chilli Oil, Lobster with Pan-Fried Rice Vermicelli, and Sweet and Sour Pork. Honouring its Sichuan know-how will be its Sichuan Spicy Fried Chicken and Poached Chilli Beef, cooked up with generous additions of Sichuan chilli and peppercorns. Live seafood will also be served fresh from the tank just as in Hong Kong.
Ju Xing Home opens on Dec 1 at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, #B2-36A,, 391 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238872. Reservations are now open here. Walk-ins are also allowed.
