Ice cream has many reasons to be enjoyed, so why not indulge? Our bodies need both protein and fat to maintain a positive mood, and ice cream provides both (so we tell ourselves).
Additionally, it contains amino acids that increase serotonin production, such as tryptophan, which contributes to satisfaction, happiness, and optimism. You’ll enjoy these new treats whether you eat them in an ice cream shop or take them with you.
National Museum of Singapore X Kind Kones’ mystery sorbet
Celebrate the National Museum of Singapore (NMS)’s 136th birthday with a free scoop of “mystery flavour” sorbet. Inspired by the food and beverage section in its ongoing exhibition, Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s – 2000s, NMS has worked with Kind Kones for a refreshing vegan treat featuring a flavour derived from one of the plants in its prized William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings.
Just head down to the museum, Level 2 Glass Atrium, on Oct 7 and 8 from 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm. Giveaways will be on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Five lucky visitors who can guess the correct flavour of the sorbet will also receive a $20 gift card courtesy of Kind Kones. Don’t forget to visit the exhibition with travel-themed pop-up rooms and an immersive audio tour to rediscover the evolution of Singapore as a travel destination.
National Museum of Singapore is at 93 Stamford Rd, Singapore 178897.
Ben & Jerry’s Desserts Series
Churray for Churros!, Mousse Pie and Oatmeal Dream Pie (non-dairy) – it’s tough to pick just one flavour from Ben & Jerry’s Desserts Series. The first blends buttery cinnamon ice cream and chunky churro bits and the second combines a decadent chocolate mousse with a chocolate cookie pie crust in a milk chocolate ice cream. The third is vegan-certified with non-dairy ice cream, chunky gluten-free oatmeal cookies, and swirls of marshmallow.
Ben & Jerry’s collaboration with Andsoforth – Singapore’s first immersive dining company – allows you to experience them at The Gentle Club in an immersive dining experience. Reimagined desserts based on the new ice creams will be served, including a churr-rious take on an ice cream sandwich, fluffy marshmallow clouds over steaming coffee, and an intense chocolatey twist on a classic pie.
Tickets ($28 before GST and booking fee) include a complimentary welcome drink, and are available at Andsoforth from now till Oct 31. The Gentle Club’s location will be emailed to you 24 hours before the 90-minute show begins.
The Dessert Series is available at supermarkets, convenience stores, and online at $15.04 with exclusive merchandise, while supplies last.

Tom’s Palette’s new space and menu
Tom’s Palette, which reopened this month with a vibrant new look and seats 40, constantly challenges the perception of what makes gelato great.
Its growing library of 200 flavours feature both classics and unorthodox creations, including Salted Egg Yolk, Nasi Lemak, Mango Sticky Rice, Hainanese Kaya, Kueh Dadar, and Salted Coconut, as well as Luo Han Guo. All are made with fresh and raw ingredients, without the addition of colouring, premixes, or artificial flavouring.
With a diverse selection of 36 flavours at any one time, there is something to please every palate, including one new must-try: Maple Pecan. It captures the spirit of autumn perfectly in a harmonious blend of pure maple syrup-soaked pound cake, irresistibly crunchy toasted pecans, and fior di latte gelato, and is even yummier with Belgian waffles for dining in. Also new on the menu is a platter of six flavours ($29.80) called, what else, Tom’s Palette.
Alternatively, enjoy its gelato in a cone ($1.20 + $6.40 for a single scoop; $10.80 for a double) or a cup ($5.20-$9.90 for two flavours). Another option: a 650-ml takeaway tub ($25.80 for two flavours).
The desserts are best enjoyed at its cosy, rejuvenated space with eye-catching artwork by local artists and an organically contoured table that doubles as a showcase area for gelato-making workshops. WhatsApp Tom’s Palette at 6977 9749 or email [email protected] to be the first to be notified when a new class opens.
Tom’s Palette is at 51 Middle Road #01-01, Singapore 188959. For more information, visit tomspalette.com.sg.
