Indulge in local flavours at Sinpopo Brand Restaurant’s new outlet in town

It’s no secret Singaporeans love food, and as a big part of our multi-cultural heritage, our local cuisine also showcases the best of this unique social tapestry, giving us that immediately recognisable Singaporean flavour that we’ve come to love so much.

As a stalwart purveyor of heritage-rich flavours, the Sinpopo Brand has gone from strength to strength, preserving much of the traditions from the neighbourhood of Katong – where they first started – and dishing out delectable dishes made with time-honoured recipes that pay homage to Singapore’s culinary history.

After operating along Joo Chiat Road for close to a decade, the Sinpopo Brand restaurant now finds a new home in the heart of Orchard Road, within the swanky Tang Plaza. At this new space, fans will find new communal dining dishes and a weekend High Tea menu on top of their signature offerings.

Perfect for everything from corporate catch-ups and meals with loved ones, to a showcase of local cuisine to friends from foreign countries, head over to their restaurant to indulge in highlights such as the tender Beef Cheek Rendang, cooked with Sinpopo’s own house-made rempah and enhanced with aromatics such as turmeric, lemongrass, kaffir lime, hearty servings of juicy Satay Ayam, and an uplifting Calamari + You Tiao Rojak.

Definitely go for Auntie Mei’s Salted Vegetable Duck Soup for an unforgettable and comforting Nyonya-style soup, richly flavoured with assam and plums, then topped with a teaspoon of brandy. Other authentic gems include their Sotong Hitam, made with a recipe from the chef’s grandmother, hand-extracted squid ink, then finished with chimichurri, and Kueh Platter with Ondeh Ondeh, Bingka Ubi, Kueh Dar, and Kueh Sarlat.

While at Sinpopo, you’ll also not want to miss out on their Signature Nasi Lemak, famed for its irresistibly fragrant rice steamed with ginger, garlic, and pandan leaves, finished over a muslin cloth, then drizzled with blue-pea flower for that extra taste, and brushed with freshly cooked oil to seal in the flavour.
