Singapore Food Festival (SFF) 2024 is back from Oct 1 to 31 – with a difference. This year’s “reimagined” event does away with the Festival Village (the 2023 Festival Village at Bayfront Event Space was where most of the action took place) and offers a decentralised experience instead.

Themed “A Celebration of Old and New” and built around three core pillars – Heritage, Contemporary, and Innovation, SFF will have a month-long series of over 20 multi-genre events, ranging from the large-scale to the boutique. It intertwines the timeless culinary traditions of the old with the cutting-edge innovations of the new, and promises to offer a gastronomic journey that honours Singapore’s heritage with contemporary flair, while embracing the spirit of innovation.

There are grand, theatrical spectacles at iconic venues, intimate dining experiences in some of the city’s best restaurants, and lively public pop-up events. Here’s a peek at what food lovers can expect.

Signature Events: These are described as the “heartbeat of SFF 2024”. Three large-scale, immersive experiences offer a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

At Future Food (Oct 10) at Marquee Singapore, top chefs like Zor Tan, Hafizzul Hashim and Emmanual Stroobant will challenge the traditional dining experience using futuristic techniques and cutting-edge mixology. At The Long Table (Oct 17 and 18), a four-course lunch menu or a six-course dinner menu crafted by chefs Damian D’Silva, Marvas Ng, and Cheryl Koh is served at the historic Chjimes Hall accompanied by live ballet performances. Food is Art (Oct 19) at Digital Light Canvas by teamLab, Marina Bay Sands celebrates the connections between food and art. Discover Janice Wong’s intricate chocolate sculptures, or explore other thought-provoking displays such as the unique relationship between plants and music.

Diners may even have the chance to meet SFF’s ambassadors: Damian D’Silva, custodian of Singapore’s culinary traditions, chef-partner at Rempapa and MasterChef Singapore judge;  chef Akmal Anuar of contemporary Asian restaurant Harummanis; and Janice Wong who is known for pushing the boundaries of dessert and confectionery.

Unique Events: These events, where culinary creativity meets immersive storytelling, are hosted in some of the city’s most renowned restaurants and bars. For example, at Path’s Dream of the Orient (Oct 2), executive chef Marvas Ng presents an eight-course menu that begins with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and features dance performances for a deep dive into Singapore’s cultural tapestry.

Head to Firangi Superstar for Ayodhya Adventures in Singapore (Oct 8) an interactive storytelling and modern Indian cuisine experience where the ancient Indian epic, The Ramayana, comes to life through food and performance. Jiak Kim House’s The Magic of Tradition & Modernity (Oct 12) blends Singapore’s rich heritage with contemporary flair through a four-course menu and a captivating performance inspired by Chinese opera.
