Green Tea Old Fashioned

We already have wine-cocktails; now it’s time for tea. Or rather, tea cocktails from Mixology Salon.

The celebrated craft cocktail bar from Tokyo (it was no.49 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019) has now opened its first international location right here in Singapore at Robertson Quay.

Founded by master mixologist Shuzo Nagumo, Mixology Salon offers visitors outside Japan an opportunity to savour its signature “tea tails”, a distinctive concept that showcases modern mixology techniques and the artful fusion of high-quality Japanese green tea leaves such as gyokuro, oolong, and hojicha in expertly crafted cocktails.

Drinks eschew conventional flavoured liqueurs and are instead a meticulous combination of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices with spirits.

Japanese Tea Espresso Martini

The bar seats only 17, just enough to create an intimate tea-time setting where guests can sip and enjoy the cocktails under the guidance of Shuzo’s protégé, Kaoru Takii.

The menu features an array of innovative drinks, including the Japanese Tea Espresso Martini, an umami version of tea in a cocktail with exclusive gyokuro-infused Grey Goose vodka, matcha, sencha and vanilla syrup.

Sencha Gin & Tonic

Sencha Gin & Tonic blends the gentle astringency of Shizuoka Sencha with Bombay Sapphire gin; Iri-bancha & IPA  is made with Grand Marnier, apricot liqueur, vermouth Rosso and IPA but with a smoky flavour from the Kyoto tea roasting process; and Four Seams is a savoury concoction of genmaicha, redistilled Grey Goose vodka and yuzu.

Iri-bancha & IPA

Green Tea Old Fashioned is a twist to the classic Old Fashioned that infuses matcha with chocolate bitters, kuromitsu, vanilla bitters, bourbon and rye whiskey. The Gyokuro Cocktails Course offers a delightful journey through three distinct infusions of gyokuro (prized as the highest grade of Japanese green tea) for an exploration of different flavour intensities.

Mixology Salon is at 1 Nanson Road, #02-07B InterContinental Robertson Quay, Singapore 238909.
