Dress down. Way down.

Unless you plan to hang out in the Whisky & Wine Lounge the whole time, do not under any circumstances wear anything with a collar or made of leather because you'll want to rip everything off. So ditch the dapper gear; no one cares. Audi Fashion Festival it is not.

Line your stomach beforehand.

We made like Will and Kate and swung by Raffles Hotel's Presidential Suite (the royal couple spent the night here during their stay in Singapore) for scones and Champagne with British Theater Playhouse (BTP) as they talked about their upcoming play The Mousetrap, the Agatha Christie whodunit. Part of the talking was done by BTP director John Faulkner, who then delivered a monologue in character as a self-effacing Italian gent. Turns out he was in the 32nd year of the London production of the show.

We were stopped in front of the not-so-secret-anymore Library bar next to Keong Saik Snacks. The bouncers? 28 HongKong Street barkeeps Michael Callahan and Zdenek Kastanel. When we got in, we saw that the Library was filled with faces from pretty much every hip speakeasy-style bar, and quickly realized that this was no ordinary press tasting.

In case you're not in the know, Platters boasts a uniquely Heraclitean dining concept. Its menu and culinary style are informed by guest chefs, who change every four months.
