Eat, play, party and be merry at GastroBeats

GastroBeats, which made a thumping debut as part of the annual sustainable light-art festival i Light Marina Bay last year, is back with an expanded line-up of programmes at the neon-drenched Promontory.

And this year, it promises to be even more kickass than it was last year with a stellar line-up of gigs, Insta-worthy food pit-stops, activities and—of course—GastroBeats’ signature neon installations. You can also stand to win an Oppo RII when you hop in the Oppo Photo Booth. What’s more, this edition of GastroBeats also includes the Illumi Fest Run, which returns to these shores with a refreshing twist. There’s plenty to look forward to, so don’t be surprised if you keep returning to it over its four-week run.

Local Beats

Some of Singapore’s finest musicians will feature over four themed weeks at the Promontory. Among them: Cosmic Child, Fariz Jabba, Jack and Rai and more. The live gigs line-up kicks off on Mar 9 with Light It Up, featuring alt-rock, pop and funk offerings.

The following week sees rap and RnB in Finding Forever. Check out Raw Sounds for neo-soul, pscyh rock and folk on Mar 23. The final weekend in March sees the DJs hitting the decks to spin some choice dance tunes.

Want something more tailored to your tastes? Silent Disco Asia is bringing their one-of-a-kind experience back to GastroBeats at the comfortable air-conditioned lounge within the Promontory. Here, three DJs play at once and party-goers get to choose between the different channels on their individual headsets. On Mar 23, there’ll be a special Bollywood edition featuring Indian hits, bhangra classics and more.

Best Bites

Pop by the food stalls to enjoy a host of delectable fare from more than 15 of the city’s finest foodie joints. Whether you’re after spicy street food, sumptuous bespoke cocktails or classic pub grub, there’s something to whet everyone’s appetites here. By the way, GrabPay is one of the accepted modes of payment at GastroBeats—which means you can happily do without having to fumble about for cash and change as you tuck in.

Lights, Camera, Action

For the first time, the line-up of dazzling installations will extend beyond Marina Bay to Esplanade Park. In addition, four festival hubs will host activities for all to attend—including the Art-Zoo Inflatable Park, which returns to The Float with its life-sized balloon characters. You can also stand to win an Oppo RII when you hop in the Oppo Booth.

Run it Off

The first home-grown party run that has ventured beyond Singapore, Illumi Fest Run is returning to these shores with a refreshing twist. Find out why it’s a hit in the region with its iconic brand of splashing participants with glow-in-the-dark water guns as they dance through different ultraviolet zones.

GastroBeats takes place Mar 9-Apr 1 at The Promontory. More info here.
