Weekly great live entertainment right on the beach

When we want to take our partying outside the confines of an air-conditioned club, we hit the sands of Sentosa for some guaranteed fun. There’s no better place to unwind by the sea than beach bar Coastes at Siloso Beach.

For live music junkies, the news that Coastes’ Friday Night Live segment is returning should set you tingling. Starting Jul 6 from 8pm onwards, this evolved version of the bar’s former Jazz by the Beach event is back for its second edition, every Friday evening in the entire month of July. Some of Singapore’s best musicians will take the stage, with an all-female vocalist line-up transforming Coastes into a live music destination on the beach. Whether you like pop or rock, funk or soul, or are just a dedicated jazz enthusiast who’s fallen in love with Coastes, there’s something for you.

Talented performer Jenny Vie Velasquez (Jul 6) returns to open the series, followed by young up-and-coming musician Syakirah Noble (Jul 13), who’s been singing in local festivals and concerts since she was just 7. Then there’s sultry singer-songwriter Anastasia Francis (Jul 20) to catch, before veteran songstress Alia D’Melda (Jul 27) brings a rousing end to what we’re sure will be another successful edition of Friday Night Live.

Some say the hosts matter more than the performers; if you’re of that camp, you’ll be pleased to know that renowned UK singer Rob Collins will be emceeing and performing, with pianist Stephen Francis and his equally talented band backing the ladies.

And of course, what’s live music without mouth-watering comfort food and good drinks? Look forward to the wide range of premium beers, housepour spirits and refreshing cocktails available. You really can’t go wrong with a jug of ice-cold Heineken at only $28; and since the brand is the official beer for the event, rest assured they’ll be well-stocked for the night. If that’s not your choice of tipple, there’re selected red, white and rosé wines at $48 for a bottle and $88 for two bottles, plus Margarita on the Rocks at just $10.

Admission to Friday Night Live is free, and you can make reservations by sending an email to [email protected]. For more information, head to Coastes' website or Facebook page.
