Come for the beer, stay for the food

Starker Group’s latest venture into the North-East comes in the form of a multi-concept bar and bistro featuring good food, chill music and, of course, loads of fresh beer. Newly opened Starker Q at Punggol Waterway Point is perfect for winding down a busy day, and is just a short ride away from Coney Island or Punggol Park. Now you don’t have to go all the way to Holland V or Zhongshan Park for some Starker beer.

Starker Q is spread over two floors, with the first floor boasting an array of dining options and a live music stage, while the second floor hosts an airy bar that promises a gentle respite from the bustling heartlands.

With such diverse options at Starker Q’s food hall, there will be nary an empty belly when it’s time to leave. All the food options here are also easy on the wallet with no dish priced above $25—leaving more for you to spend on the booze!

If planning on doing some heavy drinking, you can head over to Allegra for comfort food favorites and sharing platters. Besides the famous Starker Classic Wings which comes marinated in Starker’s own signature beer, be sure to try their Crispy Fish Skin which is served with salted egg dip. If you’re up for it, feel free to tackle their Meat Lovers Platter, filled with sausages, Cajun chicken, tender striploin, pork chop and topped with sunny-side up eggs and mashed potatoes.

Fresh seafood is always a big hit, and Legend Seafood offers the best ocean catch from oysters to clams and lobsters. They’ve even got chicken liver and chicken gizzards for the slightly adventurous.

My Bao serves up baos with both traditional and modern fillings. You won’t go wrong with the typical Char Siew Bao, but their Bacon And Mushroom Cream Bao and Pulled Pork Bao are interesting creations worth trying too.

Meanwhile, Pizalo will carb-load you with their pizzas. Aside from classics like Hawaiian, they’ve got an interesting Wanton pizza going on that pretty much deconstructs wantons atop a bed of pizza sauces and cheese, and drizzled with hoisin sauce. Pizalo also offers cone pizzas—just imagine a slice of pizza rolled up like a crepe. No more messy tables!

Mukja is the resident Korean expert, offering traditional Korean fare perfect to go with a tipple. Munch on some Seafood Pajeon, a fried pancake with seafood and scallions, or Tteok-bokki while you have a glass of beer. Other highlights include their Jajang Myeon, the famed Korean black bean noodles, and Budae Jjigae, a Korean army stew filled with spam, sausages and kimchi.

Of course, how can we forget the beer? All five varieties of Starker’s Signature Beers are on the menu and are brewed in-house to guarantee freshness. Try their Lychee beer for a refreshingly clean and citrus drink to beat the heat. For those who prefer something heavier, give their Charcoal beer a go, which leaves behind a distinct, malty aftertaste.

Starker Q is located at 85 Punggol Central, #01-01, housed within Punggol Waterway Point.
