Only good things come to mind when you think of the words “afternoon tea”. It means a well-deserved break, to recharge and reboot. It means immersing yourself in heritage, tradition and glamour. It means spending quality time with the people closest to you. And, of course, it means plenty of #foodie content for social media. If it’s been too long since you last experienced the kind of pick-me-up that only a lavish afternoon tea can provide, then you deserve to spend a lazy afternoon (or two) at Atrium and Pacific Marketplace at Pan Pacific Singapore. Here’s what you can look forward to at their refreshed English Afternoon Tea.

The savoury

It wouldn’t be tea without the classics, but you can expect to see a few modern flourishes here with quality ingredients and Asian-inspired twists. Wholemeal finger sandwiches with jamon Iberico ham, red pepper quiches with whipped cream cheese, baked sea perch with Madras spice and wagyu beef teriyaki with shishito peppers in panipuri shells are some of the highlights.

The sweet

Yes, there will be freshly baked scones, but executive pastry chef Eddy Yau and his team have also gone all out with an array of creative desserts with a focus on seasonal fruits, berries and fruit-flavoured chocolate. Some of the standouts: the Cherry, a gorgeous cherry-shaped dessert made with cherry confit and mousse; the passion mango choux with passion fruit chocolate, mango compote and crunchy feullitine; the yoghurt blueberry macaron; the dark chocolate pear caramel; and the delightful walnut-shaped coffee walnut praline.

The tea (and coffee)

What’s an afternoon tea without, well, tea? At the Pan Pacific Singapore, you can take your pick from the specially prepared Earl Grey, infused with orange, cinnamon and ginger, and a range of teas from TWG. Coffee lovers aren’t ignored either; go for the spiced nitro cold brew or a cuppa from Lavazza.

The tea stand

Tea stands are anything but an afterthought here. Inspired by Atrium’s floating pods, this snazzy centrepiece ties the whole spread together.

The details

The English Afternoon Tea at Atrium and Pacific Marketplace is available daily from 2:30pm to 5:30pm for $48 per person or $88 for two.
