Nothing gets in the way of the iconic snow-skin mooncakes

When we first got wind that Raffles Hotel Singapore would be closing for restoration, one of the top thoughts that came to mind was: What would happen to our favorite mooncakes? Suffice to say that Raffles Mooncakes are as legendary as the heritage hotel itself. While they don’t date as far back to the hotel’s opening in 1887, these exquisitely handcrafted mooncakes have since become a staple at Mid-Autumn celebrations here—for their irresistibly delectable flavors and more importantly, beautiful packaging. For many, it’s not a Mid-Autumn party without Raffles mooncakes; so of course people were worried.

Thankfully, it looks like our favorite mooncakes will be returning in 2018, even as the hotel continues its careful and sensitive restoration. This year, each treat comes encased in an azure blue box with chinoiserie floral details; perfect for gifting to loved ones and business associates. And if you have been holding your breath for the new creation this year, it’s amazing—the Acai Berry and Chia Seeds Snow-Skin Mooncake is presented in a lovely shade of soft pink, which wraps around a delicious and healthy filling of acai berry, chia seeds and Greek yoghurt that is rich in anti-oxidants.

Head over to Raffles Hotel Singapore’s North Bridge Road Atrium, where you’ll also find other classic snow-skin selections. There’s the Earl Grey Tea and Pearl Snow-Skin Mooncake, filled with Earl Grey tea-infused milk chocolate ganache; and the Cognac Truffle Snow-Skin Mooncake, for those who like their mooncakes intense and strong. Last but not least, do get your hands on the signature Champagne Truffle Snow-Skin Mooncakes before they’re all snapped up; the perennial favorite is pretty much Raffles Hotel’s most famous treat.

Double Yolk with Macadamia Nuts

For the more traditional souls, classic baked mooncakes are available too—like the Mother-of-Pearl with Single Yolk and White Lotus Paste Mooncake, and all-time favorite Double Yolk with Macadamia Nuts and White Lotus Paste Mooncake. Everything is available from Aug 3-Sep 24 at Raffles Hotel Singapore, North Bridge Road Atrium; or you can order them online here.
