The ultimate social playground awaits this April

Singapore is a city with one of the world’s most enviable music festival scenes—from electronic dance music to jazz, hip-hop, indie and old-school rock, it all happens here. So it’s only fitting that the city will play host to what’s touted as the region’s first multi-genre music festival: Hydeout. Here’s what you need to know about the event.

The international headliners

As promised, Hydeout has announced a line-up of massive names across varied genres. Representing hip-hop are American rappers A$AP Rocky and Gucci Mane; on the electronic dance music front are three-time DJ Mag top DJ Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero and Yellow Claw (all from the Netherlands) along with France’s DJ Snake (of “Turn Down for What” fame); on the pop side is the multi-talented British performer Rita Ora; and bringing his reggaeton and Latin pop sound to town is Colombia’s J Balvin.

With so much talent on show, there’s no way Hydeout could take place within a day. In fact, one weekend isn’t merely enough—it’ll be taking place over two weekends in April. DJ Snake and Gucci Mane are up on Apr 10, followed by A$AP Rocky and Rita Ora on Apr 11. J Balvin and Yellow Claw start the second weekend on Apr 17, before Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero finish off the electrifying experience on Apr 18.

A local hero

Singaporean DJs and musicians have been on the rise in recent years, and flying the flag for them at Hydeout is Manfred Lim—better known as Myrne. Having performed on some of EDM’s biggest stages at Ultra Miami and Tomorrowland (and being the first Singaporean signed to Ultra Records), Myrne has been tasked with setting the atmosphere for the festival.

The Pantheon Stage takeovers

While the headliners light up the Amphitheatre, a second stage at Hydeout will see four takeovers that add another dimension to the festival. Andrew Rayel – Find Your Harmony (Apr 10) is all about trance; BFAM – Youtopia (Apr 11) is an East-meets-West extravaganza; Monstercat (Apr 17) puts trap front and centre; and Brownies & Lemonade (Apr 18) unleashes a musical spectrum spanning hip-hop, funk, dubstep and more.

The venue

A festival like Hydeout needs an awe-inspiring venue, and The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay is just that. What could be a better backdrop for a ground-breaking festival than the Supertree Grove and Marina Bay Sands? You’ll want to make sure your phone is fully charged to capture it all.

The tickets

Early bird tickets are available from the Hydeout website from $158 (until Jan 31). Standard tickets will be available after that from $178. For more information, visit Hydeout’s pages on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and follow the hashtags #hydeoutfestival and #hydetribe.
