Travel review giant TripAdvisor just released its list of the 25 highest ranked hotels in the world based on customer experiences.
There’s not much in there from Southeast Asia, but we did spot one resort—Shinta Mani Shack, at no. 7, which sits a 2.5-hour, $785 SilkAir flight away from Singapore, in the French quarter of Siem Reap.
Users praised not just its beautiful, barefoot luxury styling and elegant, colonial courtyard, but also its charitable side. A percentage of your room payment gets donated to the Shinta Mani Foundation, which helps Cambodian children with education.

At B4,792 (about $195) a night (10 percent discount if you book 30 days in advance), your Garden King Room sits footsteps from the pool in tropical surroundings—and all just a 15-minute tuk tuk ride from Angkor Wat.
