June has finally arrived, and that means a whole host of new content on Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video for everyone to enjoy. We’ve picked some of the highly anticipated shows coming to a streaming service near you. 

 

New on Netflix:
The Witcher (Season 3)

The third season for fantasy drama The Witcher is coming in two volumes: Volume 1 will be released on Jun 29 and Volume 2 on Jul 27, so you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on the first two seasons. The story revolves around the legends of three characters: monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Princess Cirilla (Freya Allen), and sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), and how their lives intertwine in the fictional, medieval-inspired land named the Continent.

 

Black Mirror (Season 6)

The long-awaited sixth season of the sci-fi anthology, Black Mirror, is set to release on Jun 15. Though not a lot of information is being given out about the synopsis of each episode, viewers can expect a list of talented stars starring in the episodes, including Ben Barnes, Kate Mara, Aaron Paul, and Monica Dolan, just to name a few. 

 

Catching Killers (Season 3) 

In this true crime docuseries, Catching Killers deep-dives into the investigations behind some of the most notorious serial killer cases from the perspective of the detectives. Although there is no word released about what this season could be about, some predictions of what the show could cover include The Night Stalker, the Golden State Killer, and the Hillside Strangler. Catching Killers is scheduled to premiere on Jun 23.

 

Extraction 2

Extraction was possibly one of the best action movies on Netflix in 2020. The highly anticipated sequel Extraction 2 will follow Chris Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake, as he goes on another mission after barely surviving his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It also stars Adam Bessa and Golshifteh Farahani, and is set to be released on Jun 16.

 

New on Disney+
Avatar: The Way of Water

James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel to his 2009 film, Avatar, is finally premiering on Disney+ on Jun 7. Nominated for numerous accolades including Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Avatar: The Way of Water revolves around the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their children), and the lengths they will go to to keep their family together, throughout the battles and troubles that follow them. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. 

 

Secret Invasion

Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury in this six-episode miniseries premiering on Jun 21. Together with his allies, they race against time to save humanity from shapeshifting Skrulls. Look out for Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Emilia Clarke as G’iah.

 

The Zone: Survival Mission 2

 

Korean TV personalities Yu Jaeseok, Lee Kwangsoo, and Kwan Yuri return to host this hilarious Korean variety show, The Zone: Survival Mission 2, premiering Jun 14. With eight episodes of puzzles, funny situations, and laughs, this season will see the hosts struggle through numerous situations, all while trying to survive different scenarios.

 

Revenant

Fans of mysteries and thrillers will enjoy Revenant (not to be confused with the Leonardo DiCaprio-starred movie). Premiering on Jun 23, the Korean thriller tells the story of Sanyoung, a woman who is possessed by a demon, and Haesong, a professor of Korean folklore, who can see the dead, and their attempt to break the curse that destroyed both their families. It stars Kim Tae-ri, Oh Jungse, and Hong Kyung.

Battle For Happiness

Four high society mothers in Korea battle to destroy the happiness of others, even though they are wealthy and privileged. When one of the mothers dies after an intense battle on social media, a much bigger obstacle lies in their path when one of them wants to hide the truth and another wants to expose it. It stars Lee El, Park Hyo-joo and Jin Seo-yeon, Cha Ye-ryun.

 

HeartBeat

Vampire U-hyeol (Ok Taec-yeon) sleeps in a coffin to make his biggest wish – to become human and experience love – come true. He is awakened early from his slumber by a woman named Joo In-hae (Won Ji-an) but has no time to fall in love with him. The 16-episode series premieres on Jun 26.

 

Ponnyin Selvan: Part 2
