Fans of Roald Dahl are in for a treat next year.
Coming to Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands from Mar 9, 2024 is Matilda The Musical, produced by GWB Entertainment in association with The Royal Shakespeare Company and presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia.
The award-winning musical based on the beloved children’s book is a “timeless tale of resilience, intellect, and the boundless power of imagination”.
Matilda Wormwood is a smart and precocious child who has a love for reading. Despite facing many challenges such as neglectful parents and a cruel headmistress, Matilda is able to use her wit – and newfound telekinetic powers – to change her destiny.
The iconic British musical has won 101 international awards including 24 for Best Musical. More than a decade since the production opened in London, this iconic British musical has been seen by 11 million people across more than 90 cities worldwide.
It is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and developed and directed by Matthew Warchus. The three performers playing the title role are Yolani Balfour, Donna Craig, and Myla Williams. (If you can’t wait for it to open in Singapore, the film is available to stream on Netflix.)
