For an event that required some haggling in the office to form teams of 10 runners, we were certainly impressed by the turnout. The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay took place at the picturesque setting of The Promontory, Marina Bay and we bet the organizers were ecstatic (and relieved) with the reception. More than 170 teams took part in this inaugural event, which saw the office minions decked out in sports attire with plenty of camaraderie all around. Great weather, too.
You can never judge a person’s physical fitness until you put him or her to the test. With a certain employee of Morgan Stanley completing his individual mile at 4 minutes 39 seconds and the team from Macquarie Bank recording a fantastic overall timing of 54 minutes and 4 seconds, we won’t underestimate these pencil pushers with seemingly sedentary lifestyles anymore. At the post-run, beer and awesome grub were the order of the day. That’s not all—the evening saw DJ Toxic from the UK spinning some drum’n’bass to get the party started. It seems running events aren’t complete without it anymore. The days when runs consisted solely of a strenuous route and a Kool-Aid stand are over.
