We were invited to the the official press conference of i Light Marina Bay 2014, held at the ArtScience Museum on January 22. The third edition of the sustainable light festival will be held from March 7-30, featuring a host of creative light art installations from both local and international artists.
We were given a sneak peek of some of the carefully curated, fascinating installations that are lined up for the event. The press conference kicked off with an illuminating performance (pun intended) from some of the folks behind Oz Collective, demonstrating their installation, “LiveLight”, which is essentially a canvas for live light painting. Participants are invited to use the LED torchlight on their mobile devices to paint and draw on the projected canvas. We also previewed an installation called “The Guardian Angels”, comprising brightly-lit watering cans, by Maro Avrabou and Dimitri Xenakis.
Other than the installations, festival goers can look forward to a bevy of other activities, including bazaars, gourmet food markets and workshops. All in all, i Light Marina Bay 2014 looks set to be a vibrant, colorful festival that will shed light on issues of environmental sustainability.
