Singapore Art Week 2014: Marina Bay Sands Art Path

Ever wondered what the huge bowl-like structure at Marina Bay Sands really is? Or if the brightly-colored mural behind the hotel’s registration counter has any sort of significance? We signed up for the Marina Bay Sands Art Path on January 16 to learn more about these large-scale art installations.

The MBS Art Path, which is part of Art Outreach, covers various site-specific art installations by seven international artists. These include Rain Oculus by Ned Kahn, a 22 meter-wide bowl-shaped repository that channels water in a spiral vortex, while also functioning as a skylight, as well as Wall Drawing #917 Arcs and Circles by Sol LeWitt, a colorful mural characterized by its bold lines and geometric shapes.

The Art Path really opened our eyes to the sheer amount of art housed in Marina Bay Sands. Learn more about the art pieces at the Marina Bay Sands’s website
