Where Singapore Concierge: Up close at Truefitt & Hill

We gathered at slick old school barbershop Truefitt & Hill at Ann Siang Road this month for our latest Where Singapore Concierge party. We hold these events to mix and mingle with hospitality professionals from top hotels around town. Besides being good fun, the sessions help us find out how guests use our visitor magazine so we can make the publication even better.

While chatting with reps from hotels like Parkroyal on Pickering, Marina Bay Sands and Equarius Hotel, we sipped on cocktails (the Old Fashioneds were kick ass), enjoyed manicures (for the ladies) and traditional shaves (for the gentlemen).

A men’s grooming outlet may seem an odd pick for a party. But the space was narrow and cozy, and the decor was charming: Timothy Oulton furniture, dark wood panels, marble counter tops, sleek barbershop chairs clad in sexy black leather, with an assortment of trinkets, from typewriters to bronze trucks on the cabinets.

Plus, it’s always nice to meet people in person. They so often have hidden talents and interests. In fact, Truefitt & Hill’s master barber Shane O’Neill DJs at the nearby Gem Bar and Lounge. He plays underground deep house beats—nothing too commercial—and also has experience spinning in London and Chinese cities like Beijing. That’s the great thing about face-to-face meetings, people really open up in a way they can’t over email or phone conversations. Here’s to being out and about exploring the Little Red Dot.

Check out our past Where events, including an ArtWalk at Gillman Barracks, a hub of some top international galleries, and a party at Mansion Bay.
