16 pop-ups, comedy nights, films and concerts coming up this week in Singapore

Monday’s here again but that doesn’t mean it should get in the way of your plans. Here are the coolest events to do this week.

Mon, Apr 20

POP-UP
Rapha Asia hosts a Cycle Club Singapore Pop-Up store that serves as a meeting place for cyclists and road racing. There will be coffee and Rapha-led shop rides, as well as exhibitions and a party.

Tue, Apr 21

MUSIC
Danish vocal pop group Basix brings its a cappella renditions of famous pop, jazz, R&B, soul and rock songs to the TAS Concert Series.

CONCERT
Try your luck at snagging tickets for The Script’s much-awaited concert where they’ll be performing songs from their latest studio album, No Sound Without Silence.

Wed, Apr 22

LITERARY
Telling Stories Live has four new stories that journeys all over the world and Singapore. This edition also features Pam Oei (yes, of the Dim Sum Dollies), as well as Paul Searles, Leon Chia and Rosemary McGowan.

PARTY
Multi-purpose space The Refinery hosts Eats & Beats where you can sample the latest of Singapore’s F&B scene. There will be food from Bird Bird by Artichoke, as well as Japanese street eats. 

COMEDY
One of our favorite stand-up comedians Kumar takes the stage at Kumar Stands Up For Singapore for plenty of jokes based on Singapore’s journey from a swampy island to the bustling metropolis it is today.

FILM
Director Frank Pavich’s zany documentary Jodorowsky’s Dune is about Chilean-French director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s failed high-budget attempt to adapt Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel Dune in the mid-1970s.

CONCERT
It’s not too late to get tickets for Meghan Trainor‘s concert where she’ll be performing a slew of hits like “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Moving”.

PARTY
Portuguese DJ RAC spins a night of infectious beats and remixes of bands like Phoenix, U2 and Foster the People at Moonbeats Asia x Loof.

CONCERT
Instrumental progressive post-rock quintet In Each Hand a Cutlass is back with a new album, The Kraken, which they will be premiering and playing at this album launch.

THEATER
Hatch Theatrics’ fifth production Hawa tells the story of Siti, a recent Islam convert who has been tasked with making funeral arrangements for her close friend. 

Sat, Apr 25

SALE
Buy, trade and sell vinyls (and music-related merchandise) while sipping on craft beers and cocktails and noshing on Artistry’s delicious food at Kilowax x Beat Bodega. There’s also an outdoor sound system blasting vinyl tracks that doubles as a makeshift party.

FESTIVAL
If a festival is more your thing, the Motherlanz Music Festival celebrates all things Aussie and Kiwi with music by the likes of Ian Moss and Tiki Taane, in addition to lots of beer, food and comedy acts.

CONCERT
Instrumental rock band Sleepmakeswaves performs their new album Love of Cartography. Local punk-emo-spoken word quintet False Plaintiff will also make an appearance as the supporting act.

Sun, Apr 26

MUSIC
Known to make variations of Western classical music, local ensemble re:mix performs Singapore Seaons at Singapore Through the Glass alongside original art videos by local filmmakers.

FAIRS
Boutiques at the Pit Building
is back with more local artisans and vendors hawking pre-loved or homemade wares. You’ll find brands like Elverd Designs jewelery and Indi Nyah scented candles here, but there’s also a chill out corner with snacks by Violet Oon’s Kitchen.
