ART
Singaporean artist Tan Choo Kai has a new collection, National Day Celebration, that’ll showcase his interpretations of natural landscapes at Pan Pacific Singapore’s Public Art Space. Through Oct 31

MUSIC
The Esplanade is staging three-act opera Puccini Turandot, an Asian twist on the adaptation of a Persian folk tale sung in Italian with English and Chinese subtitles. Tickets from $50. Aug 29-30

FOOD
The team behind theatrical dining experience AndSoForth is back with their latest interactive dinner sessions The Spy, The Thug, His Wife and Her Lover happening at a secret location. Tickets are at $88 here. Through Sep 18

Catch Dheepan at The Projector, a story about an ex-soldier, a woman and a little girl who pose as a family to escape the Sri Lankan civil war and begin a life together in a housing area just outside of Paris. Aug 30

Baba Chews Bar and Eatery
 is housed in Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong and offers a range of both modern and traditional cuisine from the Straits of Malacca, Western favorites and local delights. Aug 31

THEATER
The main segment of the Singapore International Festival of Arts will have highlights which include controversial stage production Five Easy Pieces by acclaimed Swiss director Milo Rau, plays like “Everything by My Side” by Fernando Rubio and more. Through Sep 17

WELLNESS

Unless you’ve had dinner at Senso, you probably didn’t know they had a tucked away bar on Club Street with ever-closed doors. Now, the Senso Group is changing all that with the reopening of The S Bar. Nestled along some white shop houses as you pull in from Cross Street, the Italian-centric bar is small, but takes visual cues from the 1950s glamor a la Dolce Vita. Sep 1

RETAIL
Fashion label Christian Dada, known for its rebellious nature and deconstruction designs, has landed right at the heart of Orchard Road. It’s the brand’s first flagship store to open outside of Japan and features an impressive interior that sees a modern and contemporary take of a Japanese karesansui Zen garden, reflecting the designer’s heritage and aesthetics. DANCE
Reminisce your younger days and dance the night away at the House of Timbre as Swing dancer band Steamed Eggs and Ginger perform some of the greatest tracks from Disney movies of the 40s and 50s. Sept 1

FOOD
Kilo Under Pressure
 is Kilo’s series of dinner nights where amateur chefs take the lead in the kitchen and serve a restaurant full of discerning guests. This edition sees Clay Kuok, an Art Director from Macau who only really started cooking after moving to Singapore. Two decades later, she experiments with food on weekends and fuses her travel experiences into her food. Sep 1

Japan’s Koshidaka Holdings has opened its largest karaoke out in Asia. Ganso Manekineko Orchard Cineleisure boasts 80 brand new karaoke rooms, five VIP rooms with pool tables and a buffet spread of local, Japanese and international dishes. Sep 2

RETAIL
UNIQLO is opening their first southeast Asian Global Flagship Store right here in Singapore. The new Orchard Central outlet will have three floors that spans over 2,700 sq. meters. Apart from the shopping, check out the interesting elements co-created by local artists throuhgout the store. Sep 2

PARTY
This month’s edition of Cato’s Interstellar night brings techno DJ Marco Shuttle, who’ll be kicking his 2016 Asia tour right here in Singapore. Sep 2

FESTIVAL
Fancy food festivals like Savour, Epicurean Market and Chang Sensory Trails are all well and good, but we’re intrigued by this heartland festival doing all the pasar malam favorites. Sep 2-4

Escape 56
 is the first party of this sort to be held at Aliwal Arts Center, a government building whose interior looks like an industrial warehouse. Join veteran local DJs Brendon P, DJ KFC, Debbie Chia, Maurice Simon, Haan and DJ Zig Zach as they smash the night with deep, dark and heavy beats. Sep 2

CONCERT
Watch Lisa Hannigan, who started her career singing harmonies with Damien Rice, and English singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf in a double-billed event at the Esplanade. Sep 2

PARTY
Revision Music is celebrating their first anniversary with a Good Times party, featuring special guests iyer (aka Nikhil Ramakrishnan) and Young Spice as they bring their flavor of low-freuency bass to Blujaz. Sept 2.

FILM
Esplanade’s annual da:ns festival is returning on Oct 13-23, but in the meantime, The Projector is partnering up with Esplanade to screen three dance-related films; two of which are focused on the artistic directors of dance companies Batsheva Dance Company and Tanztheatre Wuppertal Pina Bausch, who will be performing at the festival.
