25 things to see, do, eat and drink in Singapore this October

October is going to be a great month in Singapore (if the haze ever lets up). Sure, there’s Oktoberfest and Halloween, but we’re especially excited about a boozy outdoor brunch at Keppel Bay, the Kafka on the Shore production and the return of the 4xFour dinner series.

Art geeks can hang out at the Fort Canning Sculpture Trail, where a guide fills you in on the stories behind the various pieces. Oct 17

Try something new and watch the son of Japan’s oldest kabuki family, Ebizo Ichikawa XI, perform two plays, Uwanari and Mimasu Kuruwa no Kasauri. The first play has not been performed in 100 years. Oct 17

FILM
Card-carrying feminists can head to the 23rd Israel Film Festival, where six women-centric movies will be screened. Oct 21-27

MUSICAL
Remember how hot Patrick Swayze (RIP) was in the 90s? Here’s hoping the musical version of Ghost doesn’t disappoint. Oct 20-25

FESTIVAL

Chill out at the Singapore River Festival and head down to the Asian Civilisations Museum for the River Nights and enjoyl ocal and international art installations. Check out outdoor performances by Frontier Danceland, T’ang Quartet, and Nadi Singapura. Oct 23-24

DINING
Foodies, unite; this month’s edition of $100Gourmet features Joris Bijdendijk collaborating with the restaurants Pollen and Disgruntled Chef for a six-course meal. Lunch and dinner slots are available. Oct 24-31

ACM After Dark is inspired by the Chinese 10 Courts of Hell. There’s also a spooky storytelling session that will probably remind you of the ghost stories you heard as a kid. Oct 31
