25 things to see, do, eat and watch this June in Singapore

It’s a month of eating burgers, drinking Negronis and attending lots of cool walks and film screenings. Here’s how you should be spending your June in Singapore.

DRINK
If you love Negronis, this is for you. Negroni Week is a thing and seven bars are stirring up special creations for charity. There are even locally-inspired flavors using pandan and Pu’er tea. Jun 1-7

EAT
MeatLiquor SIN finally opens its doors in Singapore. The grungy and raucous place dishes out messy burgers, chicken wings and fries loaded with sambal and fried eggs. It’s no-reservations, so be prepared to wait. Jun 3

OUTING
Scent Walks is a guided tour of the city that connects you to the surroundings on a sensorial level. Kate McLean will be doing eight different walks around parts of Singapore using various scents and memories. Jun 3-10

EAT
Three guest chefs cook up their signature cuisines at this pop-up dinner series, Epicurean Journeys, at the Museum of Contemporary Arts. There’s Michelin-starred French food from Prince de Galles, Indian food by Manjit Gill of Bukhara and Dum Pukht, and San Franciscan Jesse Llapitan’s farm-to-table food. Jun 4-6

CONCERT
The last they were here, this American post-rock band sold out two shows. This time round, This Will Destroy You will be back to perform songs fro their latest album, Another Language at The Substation. Jun 4

SPORT
Singapore plays host to the SEA Games for the fourth time with 36 sports and 402 events. There will be sports like sepak takraw, silat and wushu this time round. PARTY
Probably one of the hottest dance music acts of the moment, The Chainsmokers make their debut Singapore debut at Zouk. They’ll no doubt be playing indie, progressive and pop charttoppers like “#SELFIE”. Jun 5

MUSIC
Bring those picnic baskets out for this edition of Opera in the Park. The orchestra pays tribute to opera music in films like Superman Returns, Life is Beautiful and even cartoons like Tom & Jerry. Jun 6

CONCERT
The first indie Triple Bill concert brings edgy singer-songwriter Inch Chua, soulful crooner Charlie Lim and veteran indie rock band The Great Spy Experiment together at the Esplanade. Jun 6

EAT
It’s a week-long party for O Batignolles’ third anniversary. There will be lots of French wines and Champagnes, a cheese tasting session and an exclusive wine fair. Jun 8-14

COMEDY
Singapore Comedy Fringe has 12 shows happening over five days with over 30 international and regional comedians taking the stage. The lineup includes local acts like Kumar and Sharul Channa, as well as a slew of of British and American comedians. Jun 9-13

PARTY
It’s three nights of nu-disco beats from three French DJs. The French Cartel brings DJs Crayon, Cezaire and Kartell at three different places: Loof, The Black Swan and a big bash at Tanjong Beach Club. Jun 12-14

PARTY
First off, there’s a huge electronic music producer spinning at Kyo. Giraffage spins his dreamy synth-pop numbers for the first time ever in Singapore. But if you’re looking for more tropical vibes, there’s also upbeat Latin and Caribbean party Tropical Explosion with Miles Cleret with reggae, funk and jazz beats. Jun 12

OUTING

Singapore Dance Theatre is back with Ballet Under the Stars, with medley performances at Fort Canning Green over two weekends. The first weekend is all about contemporary ballets, and the second has more classics. Expect lots of George Balanchine. Jun 12-14, 19-21

PICNIC
The wholesome LGBT picnic is back. Pink Dot has more DJ performances, live acts, rousing speeches and pink-clad folks gathering around Hong Lim Park. Jun 13

OUTING
it was o hiatus for about 12 years, but since last year Ubin Day (really a whole two-day weekend) is becoming an annual thing again. This time, there’s more biryani, guided walks, kayaking, fishing and tranquil kampung living. Jun 13-14

SALE
The second edition of the Great Singapore Garage Sale has 30 stalls selling used goods and handmade items like jewelry, paper crafts and even Japanese kimonos. Jun 14

FESTIVAL
The lead up to the Singapore International Arts Festival, The O.P.E.N consists of screenings, performances and exhibitions across 18 days. Highlights include photography exhibition “The Arrival of Vasco de Gama” and an augmented reality tour of Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in 15 Stations. Jun 17-Jul 4

PARTY
New Gillman Barracks cafe and bar Red Baron hosts a night of great music and good food at Crossroads. There will be music by France’s La Mamie, craft beers, cocktails and food by The Traveling C.O.W, as well as an outdoor screening of documentary Divin’ Timor and Overcoming the Impossible. Jun 20

FILM
International Music Day brings two Charlie Chaplin classics screened alongside a live orchestra and also a ticketed screening of jazz film, Whiplash. But if that’s too intense, watch a film about the origins of industrial music in Industrial Soundtrack for the Urban Decay and then head to a party with Berlin DJ Oake. Jun 20

DRINK
Beer, cider, pub grub and stand-up comedy. All happening at Beerfest Asia, with more than 400 different beers and a dedicated cider booth, too. Jun 25-28

CONCERT
The 14th edition of Baybeats has 28 local bands and seven international acts gracing the stages at Esplanade. There will be acts like Theodora and Aquila Vasica this year. Jun 26-28

OUTING
Books & Beer turns four and they’re celebrating with an afternoon of book swopping with cheap beers and American street food like Philly Cheesesteak. Jun 27
