Maker markets, outdoor film screenings, night festivals and tons of SG50 happenings, all happening in August. 

SHOP
Find a small selection of camo tees, cargo knit shorts, iron-on patches and scout hankies at the Sundays x Kapok pop up launch (through Aug 13), or head to Singapasar (Aug 1-2), a maker’s market featuring local brands like Neh Neh Pop ice cream, Supermama and The Little Drom Store. 

EAT
Restaurant Ember teams up with wine distributor KOT selections for a one night-only Biodynamic Wine Dinner. This four-course dinner has delicious dishes like the Sakura ebi capellini paired with 2012 Domaine Josmeyer Pinot Auxerrois Vieilles Vignes. Aug 5

PARTY
Even though he’s only 25, DJ Zedd has been making waves across the EDM scene with catchy anthems like “I Want You To Know” and “Clarity”. Aug 6

FESTIVAL
The Singapore International Festival of Arts is back with more musicals, film screenings, dance marathons, stand-up comedy shows and theater productions across seven weeks. Highlights include Kumar’s Living Together, a stand-up comedy performance about Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-national housing landscape, and Cabanon, a circus installation. Aug 6-Sep 19

OUTINGS
Head over to the Botanic Gardens for this year’s special SG50 edition of Concert Series in the Park. The lineup is all about nostalgia with heritage tours, concerts, bandstand performances and outdoor movie screenings. You can also catch a live telecast of the National Day Parade, too. Aug 7-9

PARTY
Relive the heyday of Zouk’s Wednesday night parties at this year’s Mambo Jambo, taking place over the long weekend. DJ Aldrin will be dropping familiar Top 40s and ’80s tunes that you can dance to. Aug 8

CONCERTS
There are a bunch of concerts happening in August. Aussie YouTube sensation Cody Simpson (Aug 10) comes to Singapore to perform his signature feel-good tracks, while LA-based alt-pop band Echosmith are performing a set of high-energy songs like “Cool Kids” and “Come With Me”. There’s also indie-electronica band Passion Pit, who will be in town to perform songs from their new album, Kindred. Aug 11

FESTIVAL
The annual Pesta Raya, or Malay Festival of Arts, is back with dance, theater and music performances that celebrate the Malay culture and community. There’s even a play about Singapore’s first president Yusof Ishak alongside hip hop songwriting workshops. Aug 13-16

EAT
The star-studded Epicurean Market is back at Marina Bay Sands with celeb chef booths by Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Wolfgang Puck’s upcoming restaurant, Spago. Aug 14-16

FILM
Outdoor film festival, Films at the Fort is back with 10 different film screenings of titles like The Imitation Game, Shawshank Redemption and boxing classic, Rocky. Don’t forget to pack some wine and picnic baskets, too. Aug 14-23

ART
14 local artists, including Alvin Ong, Eugeen Soh and Ruben Pang, interpret what it means to be Singaporean by exploring the uncoventional ways of living here. There are stunning photographs, paintings and multimedia works on show at Common Ground. Aug 15-Sep 13

EAT
Head over to Nox Dine in the Dark for their second anniversary celebrations, or go for an immersive theatrical dining experience at Andsoforth’s The Karl Experience. Aug 19

FESTIVAL
The Singapore Night Festival is back over two weekends with more nocturnal happenings ranging from cabaret shows and stand-up comedy acts to food booths and live music performances. Aug 21-22 & 28-29

FILMS
Catch free screenings of five iconic local films shot in the ’50s to ’70s at Spotlight on Singapore Cinema. The roster includes films like Taming of the Princess and Malay action drama Chu Chu Datok Merah. Aug 20-23

FESTIVAL
Hip hop festival Summerdaze is back for the second year. The lineup includes hip hop heavyweights like Fat Joe and Arrested Development, as well as up-and-comers Slum Village. Aug 22

HEALTH
This untimed 5km fun run is one of the most popular marathons in town. The Color Run is back for its third edition and has even more color throws by the beach. Aug 22-23

PARTY
Australian electronic DJ duo New World Sound plays a set of euphoric house tunes for their first-ever visit to Singapore at Zouk. Aug 22

CONCERTS
The famous American alt-rock band Imagine Dragons are in town for their Smoke + Mirrors tour to perform hits like “I Bet My Life”. Aug 25

MUSICALS
The classic Broadway hit, Guys and Dolls, starts tonight with a set of gamblers, gangsters and sassy showgirls parading around Times Square and Havana dance clubs. Expect songs like “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Luck be a Lady” here. Aug 28-Sep 13

FESTIVAL
If you’re a fan of anything Latin, head to the Singapore Latin Extravaganza, a festival dedicated to various Latin performances, workshops, parties and even dining. Aug 28-31

WORKSHOPS
The Singapore Tyler Print Institute Open House allows participants to try their hands at different print and papermaking techniques. And you’ll get to take home your handmade prints, too. Aug 29-30

MUSIC
Filipino musician Marco Fusinato performs an improvised guitar and electronics set for eight hours non-stop at Spectral Arrows. Aug 29

WORKSHOPS
If you’ve ever wanted to be an actor, consider going to the Viewpoints & Suzuki 101 workshop where you’ll learn to cultivate awareness to sensory details that encourages endurance and focus. Aug 30

DANCE
A collaborative performance between Arts Fission and The Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Orchestra, The Mazu Chronicle gets artist Ong Kian Peng to tell the stories of early seafarers from the Maritime Silk Road. Aug 31
