32 awesome things to do in Singapore this week (Jul 24-28)

All you soccer fans will probably be geared up for the week already as the first two matches of the much-anticipated International Champions Cup is set to kick off on Tuesday and Thursday. But if you’re not into watching a group of men running after a ball, there are a couple of new local playwrights staging their works for the first time as well as food festivals happening worth checking out. As part of <a href="http://sg.asia-city.com/events/news/4-upcoming-plays-young-local-playwri… target="_blank">The Wright Stuff</a> series, newcomer Gina Chew is working together with director Mitchell Fang to stage her own original play, Permanence. It tells the poignant tale of self-actualization when past and present come to head. Dive head first into the lives of Marco, Mehdi and Suzanne as they get involved with some pretty heavy stuff while spending their summer on the beach of Marseille France in <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/238620773315132" target="_blank">Corniche Kennedy</a>. EXHIBITION 
<a href="http://sg.asia-city.com/events/news/asia-largest-mirror-maze-has-landed-… target="_blank">Asia's largest mirror maze</a> has landed in Singapore as a new permanent installation at Science Centre Singapore. The visually-appealing maze features 105 mirror cells, more than 17 interactive exhibits and experiments on light, a bunch of holograms and fake exits. Admission is free but you'll still have to pay admission charges to the center itself.

As if Royal Plaza on Scott’s halal buffet restaurant <a href="http://carouselbuffet.com.sg/carousel/" target="_blank">Carousel</a> doesn’t have enough of a spread, it is now introducing food inspired by Taiwan’s night markets to its lineup. The usual suspects like oyster mee sua, crispy chicken thigh with spices and sweet lap cheong are all there to be enjoyed as part of their high tea meals (weekdays $42; weekends $48) happening from 3:30pm-5:30pm daily.
