4 new and quirky workouts to try in Singapore

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and you’re no doubt starting to think about your resolutions (or are you?). Here are some quirky new workout classes to try around town.

Bouncefit (Oct 27)

Bounce the weight off with this trampoline-centric workout. It is a mixture of fast and slow jumps, with a few sprints and aerobics thrown in. With every jump, you will strengthen your core muscles and get a full body workout. Supposedly, 10 minutes on the trampoline is equivalent to 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Tahiti Dance Fitness (Nov 1)

If you’re looking for something more fun and less mundane, this workout incorporates the traditional Polynesian dance, a bit like the Hawaiian Hula, but slightly more energetic. As you strengthen your abs, legs and glutes, you will also get a fun cultural experience.

SaberFit (Nov 1)

Star Wars fans, you finally have a reason to get your light sabers out. While you’re imagining yourself as Luke Skywalker (or Darth Vader), get into a full-body toning workout with unique saber-striking techniques alongside fast-paced music. And of course burning up to 600 calories in an hour is just another incentive.

Piloxing (Dec 5)

Part of FitXercise Singapore 2016, there will be a Piloxing convention for the first time in Asia. Piloxing is a core-centric, high-intensity workout that fuses boxing and Pilates and reportedly burns up to 900 calories in a session. Get your heart racing as the masterclass will be conducted by the creator of Piloxing, Viveca Jensen.
