5 fun, boozy dining parties coming up in Singapore

A sit-down restaurant dinner is so last year. Free-flow fancy nosh, rooftop views, art installations and even a chef show-down—these are just some excting dining events you shouldn’t miss.

Andsoforth Presents The Picnic

For three weekends from Feb 13-28, theatrical dining group Andsoforth is hosting its first ever indoor picnic, set inside a secret multi-dimentional art installation with a garden theme. They promise a VR-like environment complete with weather conditions and “sunshine”. Choose from three different time slots and three different types of picnic baskets like Hearty Lunch, Hi-Tea and Extra Booze. There is even a pop-up bar shaking up cocktails, beer and wine. Tickets are at $68 per person and $78 per person on Valentine’s Day.

Ce La Vi Brunch

This decadent affair of Gatsbyesque proportions is happening on Jan 23, 11am-4pm, at the MBS rooftop club. Turn up in your beachy finest and load up on free-flow Veuve Clicquot Rose, cocktails, a buffet of fresh oysters and other goodies. Resident DJ Brendon P will spin Ibiza-style beats and there are even dipping pools to cool off in if things get a little too steamy. Tickets to the Sky High Brunch event are at $198 nett and you can book them here.

Eat, Beats and Treats

Meatliquor’s all-you-can-eat burger event is back today (Jan 16) from 1-4pm, with free-flow food and booze. From $90 per person, you get to stuff your faces the green chili cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, HDB chicken tower burger, and the chicken parma burger and sides ranging from fries, fired pickles, buffalo wings, sambal prawns and more. Drinks-wise, there are bottled beers, malty drafts, Prosseco, sherbert and slushy cocktails. Top up an additional $30 for free-flow Champagne and unlimited shots. DJ Tirso will be taking requests on the decks (time to whip up your cheesy ’90s playlist) and diners will also receive a goodie bag at the door. Only advanced bookings are accepted, so call (6221-5343) or email them before heading down.

Extreme Picnic

Gillman Barracks isn’t letting up with its constant stream of arty parties and this time, independent cultural and social space Post-Museum is hosting an interactive picnic there on Jan 22 at 7pm. Participating parties of three to five people will be part of a project for this event, which touches on issues like community, space and land contestation. The picnic set includes a limited edition picnic basket, a mat and a selection of food and drinks such as laksa pesto fusilli, tempeh ball and orange caramel banana cream parfait. Each basket costs $180 and you can purchase one here

Monday Night Fight Club

The monthly food fight hosted by Izakaya restaurant Neon Pigeon returns on Jan 25, 9pm. Some of you might remember that the last show-down was between chefs Bjorn Shen and Dan Segall. This time, Jennifer Lee of Vasco and Vivian Pei of The Coriander Leaf will be sharpening their knives (and claws). Like the event’s previous editions, they’ll be battling it out with three secret ingredients, with a stressy 60-minute time limit and a panel of judges will decide the night’s champion. For blood-thirsty audiences, there’s no entry charge for this one, just $10 cocktails all around.
