5 running events to train up for in Singapore

Running events are dime a dozen in Singapore, but with the worst of the summer months finally behind us, we’re actually looking forward to hitting some pavement. Here are some upcoming runs to train up for. Don’t worry, not all of them are slogs, and some of them are for great causes.

Color Run
Now in it’s fourth year, this colorful race has been hailed as the Happiest 5K on the Planet. You’ll get to run around Sentosa and throw (or be doused in) colored powder made of corn starch while island-themed music blares to keep you motivated. Just be prepared to scrub all that color away when you get back. Aug 20-21

PUMA Night Run Singapore 2016
Besides running 6km or 12km at the newly redeveloped JTC Seletar Aerospace Park, which will have you running through scenic spots like Pulau Punggol Barat, along black and white colonial houses on Old Birdcage Walk and more, there’ll also be a Race Village full of pre and post-race activities, and performances by Disco Hue, Shigga Shay and DJ NashD. The Believe B60 Charity Run 2016
This is the only charity running event that invites people to participate without having to pay for a registration fee to provide wider access across the community while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. You’ll have the choice of completing a 60-minute run/walk at your own time and pace, a 20km mass run or a B60 relay race. All donations of this run will go to the non-profit Care Community Services Society (CCSS), which provides community services such as elderly care, family services (youth, prison care), and children services. ASICS City Relay Singapore
Here’s where you can harness your competitive spirit and gather your friends to work together in a unique night relay run at the Singapore Sports Hub over a total of 21km or 42km. Top teams with the fastest timings have the chance to compete for the top spot overseas. Sept 24

Illumi Run 2016
After lighting up their running routes in the city at night, Illumi Run is heading over to Sentosa’s Palawan Green, turning it into a neon wonderland. Just like previous years, the night ends off with a massive party on Palawan Beach, featuring DJ Tinc and Rave Republic, and a pyrotechnic display. Dec 17
