[Sponsored] This year’s Beerfest Asia (Jun 25-28) has tons in store. Here are five things making their debut this time around— they’re not all about the new beers.
OK, fine. There are tons of new beers.
With over 400 different beers and ciders this year, there are a few new ones making their debut. First off, there’s Danish brewery Evil Twin’s Hipster Ale, an American pale ale that’s meant to embody the global hipster, found at TSA Wine’s booth B15. There’s also Rogue’s MoM Hefeweizen, a Belgian-style unfiltered blonde ale spiced with coriander and ginger at Smith Street Taps (booth B9/B10), and an interesting Japanese beer that’s brewed with the tart nasumikan fruit by Baird Beer over at the Epicurean Nomads stand (booth B18). There’s even a dedicated cider booth by The Mad Tapper, which has new Zeffer Zesty Citrus, a dry sparkling cider infused with lemons and limes (Booth B6).
There are value-for-money tasting portions
For the first time, the festival will provide tasting portions between 50ml and 70ml. This means that you don’t have to get bloated with all the standard-sized bottles. If you can’t commit to that experimental new brew, get a reusable cup to make your way around all the booths. Plus, it’s all super cheap: tasting portions are only $1 or $2 each.
A beer pong tournament is in the works
What beer festival is complete without a beer pong tournament? This year’s Great Beerfest Beer Pong Tournament brings the casual game to all new levels. Teams of two can sign up for the official tournament (yes, with proper umpires) that involves trophies and prizes. Heats start Jun 25 and anyone can play, but just be sure to register your team here.
There are all-new acts performing
Several tribute bands making their debut at this year’s Beerfest. One of the highlights includes a New York City-based all-girl band, Lez Zeppelin, playing—you guessed it—Led Zeppelin songs, as well as an Australian Abba tribute band, AbbaFab, with a seven-piece band, colorful costumes and uber-choreographed hits. Finally, there’s Jake and The Cowboys, a pop-rock band with a Jimi Hendrix sound.
And new stand-up comedy acts
Stand-up comedy has always been a huge draw for Beerfest and this year, they’re doing a panel show, The Last Laugh. Regulars of the Beerfest Comedy Club are split up into two teams of comedians for a battle of wits, genius and sheer hilarity. The audience also gets to decide which team comes out victorious.
