The Affordable Art Fair is in town this week from Nov 12-15 at the F1 Pit Building, shining the spotlight on both local and international galleries with work by over 600 artists. The artwork is priced from $100-$10,000. Here are some artists we’re excited to check out.
1. Elisabeth Lecourt
You’ve probably seen images of Elisabeth Lecourt’s dresses making their rounds on the internet, and this piece from the French artist is making our way to the city. It was made using maps of the Paris Monument, London Underground and Strata map of the UK and is titled “Grenadines & Bananas”.
2. Pramod Kumar
Hailing from Bihar, India, Kumar’s work is inspired by the city, Benaras. Apart from dream-like scenes, the artist also paints historical monuments, temples and villages.
3. Jacky Tsai
Inspired by Pop Art, Chinese artist Jacky Tsai’s work combines both Chinese and Western painting techniques to create quirky compositions like these. If his style is familiar, that’s because he designed the floral skull imag efor the late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection.
4. Foo Kwee Horng
Singapore artist Foo Kwee Horng’s work will make an appearance at the show. His watercolor paintings usually capture the city’s prominent buildings and vanishing trades.
5. Jaykoe
London-born Jaykoe’s work focuses on the cityscapes and structures to reveal what its people are like. Check out this piece that features the Interlace building (which recently won Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival).
