Kicking off its first event from May 12-15 at Marina Bay, the Savour food festival is an expanded edition with three different events happening in the second and third quarter of the year: Savour Gourmet, Savour Wines and Savour Christmas.
Leading the festival is Savour Gourmet, a culinary-focused event featuring over 30 dishes from Singapore restaurants priced between $6-12. So far, only seven participating restaurant-teams are listed on their website, but diners can look forward to interesting creations by Han Liguang of Labyrinth, who is known for his molecular ModSin dishes, and Jonathan Lee of beloved Mediterranean cafe Artichoke, who is mentored by Bjorn Shen.
But it’s not just about sampling fancy fare here—the festival’s headliner is its Live Your Dream initiative, which pits aspiring chefs from participating restaurants against each other, with the first event being the semifinals and the last, the grand finals. They will be judged on taste, showmanship and business acumen, while the public gets to vote for their favorite team with every dish purchased.
While things get heated up in the kitchen, those wanting to unwind with a glass of vino can look forward to Savour Wines (Sep 8-11), which promises to bring together over 400 varieties of wines, on top of a line-up of restaurants, bars and performances. And here’s the clincher: wine tasting tickets go from $12 for 10 tastings.
Lastly, Savour Christmas (Nov 17-20) is of course, all about festive dishes by acclaimed international and local restaurants, and there’s also shopping to be done at the Savour Christmas Market. Details are still being confirmed, so watch this space for updates.
