Car-free Sunday is going to be a thing in Singapore next year

Next year, the URA will close roads in some parts of the Central Business District (CBD) and Civic District for people to cycle, jog and chill in general. From Feb 28 onwards, a 4.7km route around the Padang, Fullerton Road, Robinson Road and Shenton Way will be closed to traffic from 7am-9am. This will happen on the last Sunday of the month for six months straight.

Some areas of Connaught Drive and St Andrew’s Road will still remain closed to let people walk around the activity zones that the URA is planning. While plans are a bit vague at the moment, the Health Promotion Board and SportSG will have free mass exercise at Empress Lawn and Esplanade Park.

But you should just picnic.
