Singapore’s indie bands head to Esplanade Concert Hall in June

Three popular local music acts, Charlie Lim, Inch Chua and The Great Spy Experiment will be performing at the 1,600-seat Esplanade Concert Hall on Jun 6. Helmed by homegrown label House of Riot, this triple bill will see both new and old material from all three artists.

The soulful Charlie Lim has performed at major festivals like Clockenflap in Hong Kong, The Gathering in Singapore and Urbanscapes in Malaysia. He’s also got a new album Time/Space in the works and will be performing tunes from the album at this show.

Then there’s singer-songwriter Inch Chua who first made a name for herself as front woman for rock band Allura and later pursued a solo career and released her well-received album Wallflower. She’s also done a cross-country tour acrss the US, published her first book and has opened for artists like Katy Perry, Vampire Weekend and Macy Gray.

Also taking to the stage are indie rock veterans The Great Spy Experiment who have performed at South-by-Southwest festivals, Baybeats and ZoukOut. They’ll be premiering new material as well as songs from their wildly popular sophomore album Litmus that went straight to the number one spot on the Singapore iTunes album charts within 24 hours of its release.
