Cheers to freedom: Cinco de Mayo fiestas happening this weekend

Eat, drink and make merry as Mexican heritage festival Cinco De Mayo (Spanish for fifth of May)—which commemorates the victory of Mexican troops over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862—rolls around this weekend. Here’s where to go to celebrate the occasion:

Lucha Loco

The Mexican fiesta gets a disco twist at this hip Duxton Hill spot. Alongside delicious food, DJ El Mysterio mixes classic disco and old-school tunes, so come dressed in your retro best and get a free shot of tequila (of course).

No. 5

Gear up for some South of the Border-style debauchery at Emerald Hill—not without Coronas, lime margaritas and the house special, Mexican Bulldog. Guest percussionist Budi from Wicked Aura puts out shimmying tunes with No. 5’s resident DJ.

Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl

Hop on a open-top party bus and make you way through three of the city’s Mexican bars, plus one of Singapore’s megaclubs to end the night, with Singapore Pub Crawl. Expect loads of freebies, welcome shooters at each bar, drink specials and free club entry. Can anyone say Ole?

Cuba Libre Presents: Cinco De Mayo

The Cinco De Mayo theme party is back! Come colorfully dressed in your best Mexican interpretation – not forgetting sombreros and fake (or real) moustaches. Adrenalina performs onstage while DJ MixxaLott helms the decks.
