Missed all the Oktoberfest parties? Don’t fret, because there’s a slew of boozy events and festivals coming your way. Whether or not you’re going to shop for bottles of wine, whisky and other spirits for yourself or to stock up for the coming festive season, here are a few alcohol-related events to check out.
Wine Discovery Weekend (Oct 15-17)
Enjoy a weekend exploring the rare and uncommon wines from over the world, while sitting in a Michelin star or a prestigious restaurant, at Ewineasia.com‘s Wine Discovery Weekend. There are a total of four wine and dine events you can take part in over a span of three days. Have a taste of over 100 wines from more than 40 different wineries around the world at the Wine Discovery Walkabout Tasting event, and if anyone is interested in knowing more about wines, they can also attend the complimentary masterclasses.
Wine Fiesta (Oct 20-23)
Wine lovers, get ready for three days of swishing, swirling, sniffing and sipping, all in a pretty outdoor tent overlooking the water. The Straits Wine Company’s annual outdoor extravaganza is happening again in October. This year’s Wine Fiesta has the theme Rising Roots, and will shine a spotlight on organic and sustainable wine producers from Adelaide Hills in Australia—along with nearly 70 other winemakers.
1855 The Bottle Shop’s Wine & Whisky Week (Nov 8-13)
1855 The Bottle Shop’s Wine and Whisky Week is back for a second run from Nov 8-13, offering the same one-stop tasting, shopping and education experience as the first. Yes, it’s a free-to-public event. There’ll be more than 500 labels of wines and spirits from different regions to try over the five-day affair. Highlights include cult wines like the ones from Napa Valley (including the Opus One), the popular Grand Cru Bordeaux wines from renowned wineries such as Chateau Pape Clement, rare whiskies like the Yamazaki and Karuizawa 12, and more.
Whisky Live Singapore (Nov 12-13)
Gather your friends and plan for a whisky-filled weekend as Southeast Asia’s premier whisky and spirits show, Whisky Live Singapore 2016, returns to Capella Hotel Singapore in Sentosa for its seventh edition with about 300 expressions and over 60 whisky and spirit brands for you to try, including The Macallan, which will be making its debut along with three other brands of single malt whisky. Big names such as whisky writer Dave Broom, rum expert Luca Gargano and master mixologist Rogerio Igarashi Vaz will be hosting masterclasses. This year will also see the return of the Collector room, where you can try some of the rarest of whiskies from across the globe.
East Imperial Gin Jubilee (Nov 20-26)
The fourth edition of the East Imperial Gin Jubilee is coming to Singapore, bringing a heady dose of gin culture to town. They will be touring four other cities in Asia before stopping by Singapore in November. The highlight of this year’s event is the Asia’s Best Gin & Tonic competition, which will see 80 bars from the participating cities competing for the title. Other events include masterclasses, tasting sessions, and the famous Gin Lane closing party.
