Feels like years since all the SG50 hype, and before the nostalgia withdrawals got too acute, there’s another opportunity to get sentimental and patriotic. To coincide with the upcoming National Day celebration, the National Heritage Board (NHB) has launched a traveling exhibition, 50 Years of National Day Parades, following the event from 1966 to the present. The exhibition will mostly comprise vintage photographs and eyewitness accounts from participants of years past.
The exhibition just just moved from Kallang Wave Mall to Bedok Public Library, from where it will travel to two other locations before returning to Kallang in time for National Day.
Dates for the other venues are as follows:
Bedok Public Library, Level 1 Jun 20-Jul 3
Velocity Mall Jul 4-7
One Raffles Place Jul 8-21
Kallang Wave Mall Jul 23-Aug 9
Meantime, check out these fun highlights from the exhibition:
The NDP procession, 1970s
The debut of Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) armoured mobile column at the parade, 1969
A view of the NDP held at the National Stadium, 1976
