Local indie mag Underscore is kicking off an inaugural design, media and culture conference The U Symposium.
In other words: a who’s who of hipster magazine editors we adore giving talks on publishing in the contemporary world.
On the guest list are: Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman, The Gourmand, Lucky Peach and, of course, Kinfolk. Local magazines W__K W__K (pronounced Waku Waku) and, of course, Underscore will also be present.
The conference, held at The Projector of course, will also include The U Assembly, a complementary festival involving food, literature, film, design and lifestyle. There’ll even be a master class by the editor and creative director of MagCulture, where you’ll learn how to create a magazine cover that stands out in today’s crowded newsstands. There will be other workshops, too, but details are scant at this point.
The U Symposium is happening Mar 14 and 15, with a pair of satellite events held on the days immediately following. Tickets for the conference are at $120 for a one-day pass, and $200 for both days. Find out more at their website. Space is limited as there are only 240 seats per day, so get jostling.
