What to expect at this year’s Singapore Cocktail Week

More details have emerged since we wrote about Singapore Cocktail Week a while back, and if it’s the first time you’re hearing about it, here’s a recap. The Mar 12-19 fiesta is happening across Singapore will feature over 60 bars and restaurants and nearly 200 cocktail-themed events such as workshops, brunches, pop-ups and more. Here are the recently-revealed program highlights:

Workshops for Amateurs

Fancy yourself an hobbying bartender? Then head to the “The Basic Techniques of Cocktail-making for Any Occasion” workshop by famous mixologist Laurent Greco, where you’ll learn how to shake up some potent concoctions in your own kitchen. But if your cocktail’s great on taste but flat on aesthetics, then sign up for a cocktail presentation class by Eau De Vie, open only to trade visitors.

Fancy Food Pairings

Of course, it’s not just all about the booze—restaurants like Mitzo, Meatsmith and Sugarhall are offering a dim sum and cocktail tasting (Mar 12, 13 and 19), a roast-pairing brunch with Bourbon (Mar 12 and 19) and a rum dinner (Mar 16) respectively. There is even a murder mystery dinner with Hendrick’s Gin happening at The Powder Room on Mar 14, too.

Hawker Delights

For a local spin, Singapore bartenders are creating cocktails inspired by favorite hawker dishes at the Jio You Cocktail Club on Mar 18 at the Holland Village Food Court.

International Celeb Bartenders

And jazzing up the event with a huge boost of star power, bartending big wigs Jim Meehan (of New York speakeasy PDT), Alen Nikolovski (The Baxter Inn), Tom Egerton and Alissa Gabriel (Eau de Vie), Erick Castro (Polite Provisions and Boilermaker) and Diageo World Class 2015 winner Charlie Ainsbury will all be making appearances at guest bartending pop-ups and classes here.
