Can’t wait to get your indie music fix at Laneway in January? It’s not too late to jump on a flight to Hong Kong for the event that locals rate as the best music event of the year. The two-day Clockenflap Festival (don’t ask what the name means) takes place this coming December 1-2 on the sprawling waterfront grounds known as the West Kowloon Cultural District. It’s an unbeatable setting, looking back across the water to Hong Kong island; though chances are you’ll be mainly focused on the stage. The lineup this year is their best-yet: Saturday bears witness to Primal Scream, Azealia Banks, !!!, Sneaky Sound System and more; on Sunday it’s the turn of Mercury Prize winners Alt-J, hip hop legends De La Soul and The Klaxons to close it out.
