Lament and despair! New Majestic Hotel is closing on Jun 1, but not without a huge two-day festival

By now, you would’ve known that the iconic New Majestic Hotel along Bukit Pasoh Road will be ceasing operations come Jun 1 and turned into a private members’ club. But they’re not about to go out without a bang. Just days before its closure on May 27-28, they’re hosting a two-day art, fashion, food and lifestyle festival on their premises. The Keepers x Straits Clan presents Multiply. A Majestic Playground will see more than 50 local designers, artists and food vendors taking over 30 rooms across four floors.

Besides being a reason to take one last look at the historic building that the hotel is housed in, the festival by Keepers and Straits Clan is a tribute to Singapore’s community of designers and makers who will tell their Singapore story through a myriad of installations, workshops, pop-up ateliers, bars and food shacks over the two days. The people involved in the festival come from a spectrum of disciplines to really embody Singapore’s creative soul.

We’ll be seeing familiar names like SKL0, whose artwork and stickers have gained national recognition, Supermama and their quirky Singapore-focused crafts, illustrator and henna artist Lovage, local eclectic art gallery on the Hill Kult will be launching a new collection of cool threads, and many, many more. Local fashion brands like max.tan, Mash-Up and Depression will also be there to showcase their stylish pieces. But besides just shopping, you’ll also be able to actually meet and chat with these local creatives as they tell their personal stories about their inspiration, process and how it all started inside each transformed rooms.

What’s a festival without some epic grub and booze? The Straits Wine Company, Vasco and William Grant & Sons will be on drinks duty to go along with a selection of your favorite dishes from The Little Bastard by The Refinery SingaporeChoice Cuts Goods and Preparazzi.
