Apart from a couple of cancellations, 2017 has certainly come through to be a ridiculous great year for live concerts. The universe has blessed us with performances from some of the biggest acts in the world, as well as a good mix of smaller bands and incredible line-ups at Laneway and Sing Jazz. But we now look ahead as we enter a new year; and we like what we see so far. Here’s what to look forward to in the last month of 2017, and the months beyond. And as usual, if tickets are sold out, just check Carousell and the gigs’ respective Facebook event pages.

Ayy, it’s that time of the year again where music lovers of the electronic spectrum come together, don their best beach wear and head to Siloso Beach for Asia’s longest running dance music festival. There's a heady mix of techno, trance, house and EDM acts at the 17th edition of ZoukOut, such as Grammy award-winning Australian music producer Flume, the masked DJ Marshmello (remember that whole <a href="http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/fake-dj-marshmello-a… target="_blank">drama about a fake Marshmello at Zouk?), German producer Robin Schulz, underground techno and deep house producer Claptone, Brazillian techno/house producer Gui Boratto, Swedish music producers Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Dutch trap duo Yellow Claw… among many others.
If you thought Aqua was a massive blast from the past, this one's a doozy. Just like history, fashion and music tends to repeat itself. The '80s was definitely a simpler time filled with big bold hairstyles, bright, flashy and tight outfits and the rise of electronica in music. English band Culture Club, fronted by androgynous club kid Boy George had it all. As one of the most iconic and influential bands of their time, they've sold more than 50 million records worldwide and won numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1984. They might have broken up in 1986, with a couple of reunions here and there, but now they're back for good with a new album, Tribes, in the works. Catch the original lineup perform past hits from the New Wave explosion (and probably new ones too) like "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me". Tickets are priced at $118-248, and will be available via Sistic from Sep 25. 8pm, The Star Performing Arts Centre

Besides having the freshest and dopest DJ acts around to helm their decks in Singapore, Kilo Lounge has been on a roll with their Kilo Live series; in collaboration with various concert promoters to bring in the likes of Masego, Lido and others. This time, they’re working with Moonbeats Asia once again to bring in North Carolina-born artist Machinedrum. The IDM producer and performer has been on the scene and producing music under numerous monikers since 1999. Besides releasing solo material and remixes, he's also put his magic to use for the likes of Azealia Banks, Obenewa and Jamie Liddell. Tickets are $30 online and $40 at the door via Moonbeats Asia’s website. 9pm, Kilo Lounge

American rock band Imagine Dragons are returning to Singapore to perform at the Indoor Stadium. The "Radioactive" band was last here in 2016 to perform at Singapore's F1 Grand Prix; just a year after dropping by Singapore to promote their sophomore album Smoke + Mirrors.
Secret Sounds Asia, the same guys behind this year’s Two Door Cinema Club, The xx and Cigarettes After Sex gigs, will be bringing in American indie folk band Fleet Foxes to Singapore. This will be the band's first time performing here. Formed by frontman and lead vocals Robin Pecknold and guitarist Skyler Skjelset out of a mutual love for Bob Dylan and Neil Young back in 2005, Fleet Foxes has since grown a formidable presence and strong following on during the Myspace days, and eventually signed onto Warner's subsidiary record label Sub Pop. Growing bigger than they had expected, they got in Christian Wargo and Josh Tillman and released their first full-length self-titled record in 2008, which received raving reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork Media and The Guardian, noting similarities to the Beach Boys and Animal Collective (how could we ever forget “White Winter Hymnal”?). Tickets are priced from $88-148 via Apac Tix. 8pm, Esplanade Theatre

If you've been pining to catch British electronic outfit Clean Bandit ever since their gig at The Coliseum in 2015, your day has arrived. Fans will already know that their humble beginnings at Cambridge University as a string quartet has stayed with them throughout their music career. This Grammy Award-winning group returns to Singapore as part of their “I Miss You Tour 2018”, with Singapore being the only stop in Asia at the moment before they tour Australia, and then Canada after. Their combination of dance-y beats, melodic synths, catchy hooks and strong classical music influence has brought them great success in the form of their huge number “Rather Be”, and following singles “Rockabye” and “Symphony”. Tickets are are $108-208 a pop via Aureus Productions' <a href="http://www.aureusproductions.com/concerts/clean-bandit-i-miss-you-2018-w… target="_blank">website from Nov 30, 10am. Suntec City Halls 601-604, 8pm

It's time once again for indie music lovers to congregate at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay for an all-day music pilgrimage of sorts. We'll be seeing a couple of Laneway alums this year. Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and “self-proclaimed king of slacker-rock” Mac DeMarco will be back, this time armed with a fifth studio album which was just released five months ago; along with the Grammy nominated soul and trip hop Californian outfit, The Internet, who won the crowds over last year. English shoegaze legends Slowdive, who played a headlining show after reuniting in 2014, will also be returning to Singapore. We'll also be seeing some great favorites who are no strangers to their respective scenes, such as singer-songwriter (and former drummer for Fleet Foxes) Father John Misty, indie pop duo Sylvan Esso (you should check out their super cute second record, What Now), British electronic producer Bonobo, Grammy nominated rapper and singer-songwriter Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals, and more. Tickets are priced at $158 for a single ticket, and $150 per ticket for a bundle of five or more via Apac Tix. 10am, The Meadow, Gardens By The Bay

You’ve probably heard them for their controversial breakout single, “Pumped Up Kicks”, or caught them when they performed here at Fort Canning Park in 2012. But five years and two records later, Foster The People is back for another headlining gig, this time at Zepp @ BigBox Singapore. That one track that helped shoot the now four-piece band into the limelight earned them a Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Song, as well as nods for Grammy, BRIT, NME and Teen Choice awards. In fact, it was touted as the anthem for 2011. Along with other big hits like “Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls)”, “Houdini” and “Helena Beat”, their debut record Torches went on to sell nearly two nearly two million copies and over ten million singles worldwide. While their sophomore album Supermodel focused on themes of negativity towards pop culture and consumer ideology, their latest release, Sacred Hearts Club, takes a slightly different turn in terms of sound, drawing influences from ‘80s style R&B, EDM and dance genres infused with their signature pop sound. Tickets are $138 a pop via Sistic. 8pm, Zepp @ Big Box Singapore

Californian alternative rock band Incubus has been breaking, melting and mending hearts with their music since they formed back in 1991. And they'll be doing just that for the third time when they return to perform in Singapore as part of their current world tour. Six years after their eponymous If Not Now, When?, they released their aptly named eighty studio album, 8, in April 2017 to much fanfare (fun fact: the album was produced and mixed by the band's close friend, Skrillex). The first single off the record, "Nimble Bastard" peaked a #4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart. Expect to sing/scream along to hit singles "Drive", "Love Hurts", "Anna Molly" and a whole repertoire of other songs from their 26-year-long career. Tickets are $108 each via Upsurge Productions' website. 7:30pm, Zepp @ Big Box Singapore

Nostalgia continues to trickle into 2018 as three big-ish 90s band make their way here. We've already seen the likes of The Moffatts, Guns N' Roses, Sum 41, Dashboard Confessional, Air and even Britney Spears perform on our soil in 2017. Next year, Next year, ‘90s English pop trio 911, boy band 5ive (formed by the same team that managed the Spice Girls) and pop outfit S Club will be coming to Singapore to perform hits that made their careers (and the soundtrack of your youth) at The Star Theatre. You can probably expect hits like 911’s “Bodyshakin’”, 5ive’s “Until the Time is Through” and S Club’s “Bring It Back” throughout the two-hour “I Love 90s” concert. Tickets are priced at $98-178 via Sistic. 8pm, The Star Theatre

Even with Camila Cabello's exit in 2016, Fifth Harmony has been going strong. The group was just here in April for “The 7/27” Tour in April this year, but has since released a self-titled third album just five months after that. "Down", the lead single off the album which features American rapper Gucci Mane, was written and inspired by the group's camaraderie and hardships they've faced together (apt, since it's their first one without Cabello). Now they’re back for their latest “PSA tour”, performing songs from their current album like “Por Favor” (which really does sound like a sexy Spanglish reggaeton version of Usher and Kelly Rowland’s 2004 hit “My Boo”), as well as past hits like “Work From Home”, “Worth It” and “BO$$”. Tickets are $138 via Sistic. 8pm, Zepp @ Big Box Singapore

Katy Perry’s beef with certain singers in the industry is probably pop’s biggest. And whether you want to believe that her hanging out with <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5120651/Katy-Perry-hits-sta… target="_blank">The Weeknd wasn’t a jibe at Selena Gomez, it’s still pretty entertaining. But all pettiness aside, the otherworldly pop singer is returning to Singapore for the Asia leg of her “Witness: The Tour” at Singapore Indoor Stadium, following her previous sold out Prismatic World Tour here in 2015. Love her or hate her, Perry has received numerous awards and accolades, including four Guinness World Records, five American Music Awards, and the inclusion on the list of Forbes' "Top-Earning Women in Music". The "California Gurls" singer is now on her fifth record, Witness, and she’s not planning on stopping anytime soon. Before its release in June this year, she released three singles that saw collaborations with the likes of Bob Marley's grandson Skip Marley, “Versace” hip-hop trio Migos, and rapper Nicki Minaj. Tickets are priced from $128-348 via Sports Hub Tix from 10am, Dec 11. Singapore Indoor Stadium

Irish trio The Script entered our lives (and hearts) back in 2008 with beautiful singles "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Breakeven". Since then, their following three albums continued to bring them major success with hit singles like "Nothing", "Hall of Fame", "Superheroes" and "For the First Time". They're returning to Singapore to win us over once again with their latest #1—and fifth—studio album, Freedom Child. Tickets are $98-278 via Sports Hub Tix. 8pm, Singapore Indoor Stadium

At his debut sold-out show this year, Harry Styles worked the crowd like a natural rock star in his floral get-up. Together with his four-piece band, Styles performed songs from his self-titled debut solo album, along with covers of rock anthems and of course, his renditions of two One Direction hits. “Due to overwhelming demand”, he’s added 56 more shows to his sold-out world tour, including one to Singapore with Warpaint. Tickets are priced from $98-228, with three VIP categories ranging from $488-888; all available via Apac Tix. 8pm, The Star Theatre

Three years after playing to a sold-out crowd in Singapore, singing sensation Bruno Mars makes his return to Singapore for his lauded “24K Magic World Tour”. The tour is in support of Mars’ latest chart-topping album, so you can expect toe-tapping hits “That’s What I Like”, “Versace on the Floor”, and of course the title track “24K Magic”, in addition to older Bruno Marks classics he’s likely to include in the setlist. The multi-platinum selling Mars last took the stage in Singapore in 2014, at his debut concert here. Tickets for both shows are sold out. 7pm (May 6) / 8pm (May 7), Singapore Indoor Stadium
