The Gathering Presents Chvrches
After bringing in acts like Empire of the Sun and Travis, The Gathering serves up another slice of imported indie goodness, this time involving the synthpop group Chvrches. The Scottish electronic band has skyrocketed to fame on the back of debut album The Bones of What You Believe and hits like “The Mother We Share” and “We Sink”.
Sunday at The Training Shed
The outdoor party’s last instalmment of 2014 promises the usual mix off beer, barbecue and bouncy beats. Helming the decks are DJs Gonzo, NEZ and Shellsuit, while singer MASIA ONE takes to the mic. There’s also a graffiti showdown, a makeshift basketball court and a DIY cardboard playground for the kids.
Mystica
Don’t miss his year’s edition of MYSTICA at Night Safari, which challenges participants to complete a mystical quest by completing various tasks at stations dotted throughout the grounds. Along the way you’ll meet curious creatures of the night, like the juggling porcupine and majestic lion heads.
Matter of Taste
This wine fair has over 100 top-scoring wines from the vineyards of Bordeaux, Barossa Valley, Barbaresco and Barolo, each carefully selected by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocates team. There are also master classes led by winemakers and estate owners.
Waiting for Godot
In the Dublin production of this absurdist classic by Samuel Beckett, two characters named Vladimir and Estragon wait endlessly to be granted salvation by someone called Godot.
Affordable Art Fair
The second edition of this year’s reasonably-priced art fair is back with works capped at $10,000. This time, there will be more live art demonstrations, artist talks as well as workshops in sculpture-making, watercolors and photography.
