Singapore Night Festival: The Wheel House

FESTIVAL
Gear up for the second and final weekend of the Singapore Night Festival, with a block party on Armenian Street, dazzling projections on heritage buildings and lots more. Here are seven things you should check out at the festival. Aug 26-27

BOOK
Felix Cheong is back with the launch of the SG Conversation Dabao! Book. On the day itself, Felix and storyteller Kamini Ramachandran will act out readings from the third and last installment of the Siu Dai series. Aug 26

PARADE
8Q at the Singapore Art Museum will be the site of a zentai parade. Go and gawk or sign up to be a part of the festivities. More info here. Aug 26

MUSIC
The Esplanade is staging three-act opera Puccini Turandot, an Asian twist on the adaptation of a Persian folk tale sung in Italian with English and Chinese subtitles. Tickets from $50. Aug 26-27, 29-30

DANCE
SIFA brings in Dimitris Papaioannou, Greek choreographer (of 2004 Athens Olympics opening ceremony fame), for Still Life, a post-apocalyptic piece inspired by the myth of Sisyphus. Through Aug 27

PICNIC
Plain Vanilla Bakery has turned its Tiong Bahru flagship store into an outdoor garden bringing the summer indoors with workshops, film screenings and exhibitions for their 77-day long picnic event, Picnic Days. Through Aug 28

CONCERT
This year’s Noise Singapore 2016 Festival Concert sees Noise alumnus JAWN, Samantha Rui and more, as well as three emerging Australian acts performing at Esplanade across the entire weekend. Through Aug 28

FILM
The Asian Film Archive’s Asian Restored Classics will involve screenings of restored titles from the region, screened at the fancy schmancy Capitol Theatre over four days. Highlights include Singapore’s “Gado Gado” (1961), 1964 Satyajit Ray classic “Charulata”, Kurosawa’s “Ran” (1985) and four other films. Tickets are $15 a pop. Through Aug 28

ART
Singaporean artist Tan Choo Kai has a new collection, National Day Celebration, that’ll showcase his interpretations of natural landscapes and scenery on our fair island at Pan Pacific Singapore’s Public Art Space. Through Oct 31
