The first wave of the Laneway Festival line-up is looking good

If you, like many others, have been speculating about the line-up for next year’s Laneway Festival, the wait is over. Time to plan your all-day music pilgrimage happening on Jan 21 next year.

The organizers announced their first big act yesterday when Melbourne-based musician formerly known as Chet Faker, who made his debut last year at the Cloud Stage, released a new track under a new moniker (now known as Nick Murphy) on social media. Other acts who’ll be making a return to Singapore are ambient music project Tycho and Australian psychedelic rock band Jagwar Ma, whose scheduled performance at Laneway two years ago was cancelled because of medical reasons but returned the same year as the opening act for The Flaming Lips.

You can also expect a good dose of music from the likes of English indie rock outfit Glass Animals, R&B singer-songwriter Nao, Norwegian pop musician Aurora, British electronic producer Tourist, American rapper Mick Jenkins and more. There’s also a host of local and regional acts this year, with Sam Rui’s sensual brand of R&B and experimental rock trio T-Rex—a band made up of members from Anechois, Sphaeras and Amateur Takes Control—making up the Singapore contingent. Indonesia will also be reppin’ this year at Laneway with performances by Stars and Rabbit and Bottlesmoker. For the full Phase 1 line-up, click here.

Their seven-ticket special might be over, but if you’re already convinced with the line-up, there are also several early bird tickets and bundles you can get your hands on from today till Sep 24, like the Three Amigos (20% off when you purchase 3 or more tickets), The Fab Five (bundle of 5 at $700) and A Perfect 10 (purchase seven tickets and get three free).
