There’s no slowing down for running events in Singapore this year

Running events are no longer limited to simple processions of people in the same T-shirt. Rather, some have a festival atmosphere where groups of people gather to have a good time. The running events are in full swing now and here are six of them to look out for.

OSIM Sundown Marathon (Mar 25)

Asia’s largest night run, the OSIM Sundown Marathon, is less than a week away. Celebrating its 10th anniversary on Mar 25, the route begins at the F1 Pit Building. Even if you haven’t been training regularly enough to take on the full or half marathon, you can probably still start training now and be ready for a decent 5km run. There’s also a five-day, artsy night festival at the F1 Pit building leading up to the race, with lots of sports vendors, live music, exercise classes and more.

National Geographic Earth Day Run 2017 (Apr 23)

First launched in Taiwan in 2007, the run’s proceeds go to an environmental organization, and this time it’s to WWF Singapore. You’ll be able to join a fun 5k or a competitive 10k and a family-friendly 5k group of four package is also available. You can chill out after your run with their accompanying carnival with food, drinks and merchandise of course. IndoChine will be there to serve sustainable seafood and dishes. There’s also an Eco-Concert with performers like Disco Hue, iNCH, Gareth Fernandez, Take Two and The Facade, who are making charity appearances in support of the cause. Not that you need any more motivation to participate, but the top three runners will be awarded cash prizes and a stay at IndoChine Resorts & Villas Phuket.

The Music Run (May 6)

If you’re a partygoer who loves running, there’s no better run than this; The Music Run combines both of your favorite things. For those who’ve always wanted to blast their music out loud while running, this is the place to do it because you’ll get to experience five zones with five music genres—rock, pop, old school, hip hop and dance, playing the songs you’ve voted to the playlist. After the run, shake it off at a music festival with live performances and DJs.
