27 things to see, do, eat and drink in Singapore this week (Dec 21-25)

It’s a pretty short week, so rejoice! There are lots of Christmas parties, a pub crawl and Kumar doing what he does best.  If Christmas isn’t your thing, you can still check out some of the remaining exhibitions or eat at some new restaurants (one of them has a nose-to-tail dining experience).

Mon, Dec 21

ART
It’s not too late to head to the National Gallery to check out the work of local artists like Georgette Chen and Cheong Soo Pieng. If pioneer art is not your thing, head to the fifth floor to check out regional artwork from Vietnam, Cambodia and elsewhere.

PARTY
No plans? Swing by Ce La Vi for its weekly Nu-disco night, with DJ Brendan P spinning funk, soul and house.

MARKET
It’s not too late to pick up a last minute Christmas present from the CHIJMES Christmas market. There are goods from Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, as well as chocolates, tea leaves and essential oils. 

WELLNESS
The Working Capitol is having another Mindful Monday, this time, with yoga instructor Julie Christopher. Get zen before the Christmas madness.

EAT
The new lunchtime service otiveil is having a pop-up at Raffles Place Park, serving meatballs in marinara sauce and focaccia with caramelized onions and stuffed with grilled vegetables.

Spa Esprit Group has launched Lazy Susan, a series of celebrity chef stints around town, starting with chef Hann Palcu-Chang from Toronto, who is currently at House at Dempsey. 

DRINK
Cocktail mixologist Moses Koh is doing a guest shift at Fresh!. He’s visited pretty much every bar in Singapore, so it’ll be interesting to see what he comes up with.

If you’re a fan of rare Japanese sakes, then new sake bar Kakure is just the place for you, with its wide selection of rice wines from rare breweries in Japan ($80-$500) and light bites like chicken, beef and seafood skewers.

FILM
Les Saveurs du Palais chronicles the journey of Danièle Delpeuch (Catherine Frot) and how she became the private chef of then president of France, François Mitterrand.

There’s a Christmas-themed singles event at Miss Molly’s along Tanjong Pagar, with a free flow of food and drinks for an hour, a gift exchange and more.

MUSIC
The Powder Room is having a Jingles & Jazz event, where Alemay Fernandez and Richard Jackson will sing jazzy versions of Christmas carols.

DRINK
Sofitel So and the crew from Bitters & Love are having a Gin Sul edition of their So Ladies’ Night. The German gin will make its first appearance in Singapore. 

PARTY
Refuge is also having a Ladies’ Night with Respect Feat. Nash D and Mr Boo. These guys will be playing trap, hip-hop and R&B tunes.

Ce La Vi is having a Diamond Life x Grey Goose party. Yes, it’s another Ladies’ Night event, and one woman may win a limited edition bottle of Grey Goose.

HERITAGE
Catch a curator’s tour of the Treasures of the World exhibition with cool artifacts like a “cursed” mummy that was rumored to have sunk the Titanic.

FASHION
It is the last day to catch The Louis Vuitton Series 3 exhibition, which shows Nicholas Ghesquière’s inspiration and motivation for his fourth ready-to-wear show at the high fashion house.

HERITAGE
The Balestier: A Hundred Years exhibition shows what the area was like from the mid 19th century to the 1960s. There are 130 artifacts that show how people settled, what they did for fun, and some of the cultural developments that existed during the era.

Kilo is having another After Work party, with the Sunday at the Training Shed founders DJ Shellsuit and Aidan Bamrah and Dave Code. They will play Latin house, neo-soul and Afro tunes.

FOOD
Go stuff your face at Spruce, which is having a Christmas countdown party with a buffet and free flow drinks. Or, see if there’s still room at one of these Christmas dinners.

Refuge is having a Deck Da Club Christmas dance party, so grab your dancing shoes and jam to Roze Kasmani & Deejay XG’s live RnB tunes.

Rainbow productions is hosting a Christmas countdown party at CJ’s bar at Quaich in Resorts World Sentosa. The DJs will be playing EDM, Eurodance and Hardstyle tracks at this one.

MUSIC
If you’re not doing anything on Christmas, why not head down to Straits Records? It’s their third anniversary and they are also having their Making Waves festival with live music by The Vibes, Johnny Eyeglass and Silvermachine.

Catalunya is having a Christmas Bingo Brunch with Passion starting from today till Sunday. There will be their traditional suckling pig and seafood paella and a free flow of jamon iberico, tortillas and Christmas desserts.
