Tickets for the sequel to Singapore’s favorite comedy, Army Daze, is now on sale

The historic and hilarious play Army Daze, which was first staged in 1987 and helped prepare a generation of young men for the good, bad and hilarious of life in the army, is finally having a sequel after 30 years.

Playwright Michael Chiang will be penning the script, which catches up with the original characters three decades after we first met them. Malcolm Png, now the director of public affairs of the Singapore Armed Forces, sends his son off for his NS stint. Remembering his own time as a recruit, he decides to get together with his old buddies: Ah Beng, now an entrepreneur; Johari, now running a chain of ayam penyet eateries; Kenny, now an interior designer; and Krishnamoorthy, now an architect. At the same time, the play follows the present-day NS journey of Malcolm’s son, Justin, his BMT mates Donovan, Zai and Kuan Yew and Renee, the “spunky girl” they’re all fawning over.

Expect a star-studded cast with the likes of Hossan Leong, Chua Enlai, Shane Mardjuki, Ooh Shu An and Natalie Ong of X Factor Australia fame, who’ll be making a theater debut at this show. Beatrice Chia-Richmond will helm the production while Don Richmond, who’ve produced songs for the 25th anniversary production of Army Daze, will once again show off his skills.

Army Daze 2 is running from Aug 4-20 at the Drama Centre Theatre. Tickets are now available from $43 via Sistic.
