Walk around Singapore barefoot for charity next month

Singapore’s running culture is alive and well, especially with the myriad of running events held every year that never fail to sell out. While we’re all for having fun while keeping healthy, it’s all the better when it’s for a good cause.

Humanity Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon, Bare Your Sole, returns for its 8th year on Sep 10 to help raise funds and awareness for Singaporeans who are less fortunate and struggle to survive on a daily basis. Besides a few small post-walk activities, this event is pure, simple and straightforward. This year, throw your shoes off and take a scenic walk around OCBC Square, passing by the Kallang Wave Mall, Sports Hub Library and more.

Whether you’re planning to take the 2.5km or 5km route, the funds raised will help Project HomeWorks, which is dedicated to improve the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and people with disabilities who live alone in one- or two-room rental flats. One of the highlights of the walkathon this year is a VR Booth at the Habitat Village, which will showcase the before and after versions of these homes.
