What to expect at this year’s 16-day-long Singapore Food Festival

If there’s one thing Singaporeans do best besides complaining about pretty much everything, it’s eating. Whether you’re hankering after cheap and delicious hawker food or planning a fancy evening to enjoy the finer things in life, you probably already have a list of your favorites after many rounds of “trial and error”. Come Jul 14-30, Singapore-themed culinary event Singapore Food Festival 2017 returns for the 24th edition. Expect the usual chef collabs, masterclasses, food trails and cocktail pairings.

Streat

If you consider yourself a foodie, then you’ll want to check out the festival’s signature event where restaurant chefs and hawkers come together for a pop-up restaurant at Clifford Square. This year, Peranakan chef Malcolm Lee of the one-Michelin-starred Candlenut will join chef Willin Low of Wild Rocket to present contemporary versions of local classics through a three-course mod-sin and modern Peranakan Tok Panjang menu. On top of that, they’ll be curating a selection of nine stalls, each one helmed by young hawkerpreneurs and chefs who will prepare their own spin on typical local dishes. Participating vendors include New Ubin Seafood, Whampoa Prawn Noodle and Keng Eng Kee.

When: Jul 14-15, 5-10:30pm
