Soulscape

For sexy smooth operators

Groove to slick nu disco and deep house tunes by DJ JonnyVicious at CATO presents FADED Fridays tomorrow from 10:00pm till late. The bar’s low-lit setting is perfect for coy side-glances and intimate conversations—buy that hottie a drink with all-night twin bottle promos on Grey Goose Vodka and Bruichladdich Whisky.

Kilo Lounge x Koh Presents: The Exchange is another place to prowl. Happening this Sat (Sep 12) from 10:00pm, DJs Zuyack and Dan Baartz from Koh Bali will be taking the decks with techno and house music. The tunes, of course are merely a backdrop for a potential night of debauchery.

For sexy, hairy hipsters

It’s a free-for-all street party at the hip enclave of Haji Lane from 7:00-11:00pm this Saturday (Sep 12) and it doesn’t stop there. Hang around for an after party at Piedra Negra from 11:00pm-2:00am. Setting the mood music-wise is ‘90s R&B, Hip Hop, Ol’Skool and funk and there are Coronas, tequilas and margaritas for liquid courage if you are without a wingman.

For new-age soul mates

Spandex is sexy, and even sexier is a mass gathering of spandex-clad bodies on a beach. At Soulscape this Sat (Sep 12), impress that cutie with funky yoga twists or invite him/her to a romantic sunset yoga session, culminating with a night performance of reggae, urban folk music, ethnic infusions and trip hop beats by international DJs and percussionists.

For adorkable geeks

Engage in Spock speak and exchange brain waves at the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Book Convention from Sep 12-13, 10:00am at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center. Even if you didn’t get lucky with that Clark Kent look-a-like, at least there’s an appearance by illustrator Adam Hughes, known for his works in Hellboy, Captain America and Wonder Woman. It’s a ticketed event, so purchase at 2 day pass from $19.

For dreamy pensive types

If intense, artistic souls are your poison, then go where they brood. The Asian Film Symposium at Objectifs and The Substation is back from Sep 11-13 after a six-year hiatus and this time, it features a series of cutting-edge short films by eight film programmers from Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam. Also there’s no better way to chat someone up at post-screening dialogues and debates.

For fabulous fashionistas

Pick up clothes, shoes, bags and a plus one at KEEPER’s one-year anniversary party this Sat, Sep 12 from 5:00-8:00pm at Orchard Green. There are local designers and shopping to be had, but we know you’re probably really in it for the drinks.

For delectable foodies

The fastest way to win a foodie’s heart is through an outdoor festival featuring celebrity chefs and hosts Bob Blumer of Glutton for Punishment and Jock Zonfrillo of Nomad Chef. The TLC Festival on Sat (Sep  12) from 4:00-9:00pm at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay. Bring your picnic mat because there’s going to be plenty of food stalls with bites inspired by the celebrity guests. Also, check out an outdoor yoga session by Denise Keller and coffee art and miniature food crafts sessions.
